Submarine double-header…

HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER

The first and best of the Jack Ryan movies, IMO. Alec Baldwin and Sean Connery are both excellent. A lot of the Jack Ryan movies get bogged down in the political / technological exposition of their source material (…Tom Clancy can spend five pages describing a paperclip if it’s a PENTAGON paperclip…). But this one skips along at brisk pace. I’ve seen it 3 or 4 times before, but it still keeps me interested.

CRIMSON TIDE

Basically, a vehicle for Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman to out-act each other, and it’s impossible to tell who wins … they are both awesome. Unlike the HFRO, the plot here is a little ludicrous, but it’s bulkhead-to-bulkhead action, so it’s quite a fun ride. Jerry Bruckheimer produced it, so just imagine Top Gun underwater, but without the indignity of a Tom Cruise love scene set to a Berlin ballad.

Rambo - Last Blood

Big John (no not John Wayne) goes up against a Cartel for killing someone close to him - decent film, plenty action and blood (much like previous one)
Like the last Rocky film its a final tribute to the character

7.5/10

Fast and Furious 9 (Fast 9)

a very fun and ridiculously entertaining addition to the Fast & Furious franchise and just when you think the stunts and action set pieces in this franchise can't be topped, the stunts and set pieces in Fast 9 top them. Also as always plenty of laughter and humour too.

the cast are all great and John Cena is a very good baddie as Dominic Touretto's brother Jakob and Charlize Theron is back from Fast 8

dont go when the credits start as there is an extra scene partway through the credits
9/10

Hellboy (2019)

The only thing good about the movie was David Harbour and Ian McShane. There are elements that similar to the original movie but other then that very different. Now I don’t know if this version is more accurate to the comics or if the original movie was but I prefer the original Hellboy movie and its sequel. I’ll give credit it where it’s due that the two post credit scenes were good.

Ice Road - Amazon Prime

Couple of big names in this - Liam Neeson being main one - leading a mission driving big rigs in far northern Canada over frozen ocean to rescue trapped miners, as you can imagine nothing goes smoothly, luckily no one has been Taken so he doesn’t have to use those particular set of skills laugh

Think Ice Road Truckers the movie but with explosives and guns

7/10

If you ignore all the plot holes, it's a couple hours of mindless entertainment Smile

Nice Smile

Not as nice as meeting & interacting with the Star Trek cast from these films in 2018 at Destination Star Trek at Birmingham NEC SmileSmileSmile I've been watching the Star Trek films since yesterday going "Met them", "Had a photo with them" , "Got their Autograph" "Attended their panel" SmileSmile

plus I've met actors from the various Trek TV shows including Picard & Discovery (see some of the pics in the Sci-FI Babes thread in the celebrities section)
