That system is already in place. Officials get demoted to the National List, just as they get promoted to the Select List. If that wasn't the case, I don't see how any system of officiating could ever work. I mean where would the Select Group get new referees from? And if you didn't demote struggling officials what else would you do with them?

Thanks for that I didn't know that, but what does it take for a ref to get demoted to the National List?

I did a bit of searching and I read Stuart Atwell was demoted for a series of blunders. But why haven't other refs like Howard Webb or Chris Foy when they have made plenty of errors before?

I guess the only reason I think Webb or Foy don't get demoted is probably because it's possible that within the Select List, there must be some kind of Elite list which acts as a barrier for demoting top referees. Thing is though, I think the FA and the Football League need to look at ways of allowing referees to come out after matches and explain certain decisions. I'd rather much hear their explanations for any baffling decisions that frustrate us fans during a game which makes go "Why did he do that?" and if they were allowed to do so, then it is up to the media at large to show referees a bit of respect and give them a chance to explain.

Good move by Blackburn to get rid of Kean, but imagine if the owners pick a manager that is worst than Kean.

In my opinion, Kean was part of the problem, as to why Blackburn are in a bit of a mess, but I think the owners are clueless about running a football club, so I think Blackburn fans should demand they go next.

Mick McCarthy should be top of the owners wish list to replace Kean. If they can't get him perhaps do what Wolves have done and go for a manager, who has managed in other leagues abroad

I'm a Blackburn fan and after this evening I can safely say enough was enough, there should of been other times when he should of gone. We've made a decent start to the league and are/should be on course to bounce straight back.

The fact that sponsors both local and mainstream (ie something on our shirts) had pulled out and a drop in attendances wasn't really a good sign. We have a good bunch of players and we should of done more last year, stayed up and then got rid of Kean in the ideal world. At the end of the day the 'resignation' can be a cover up for numerous parties and makes it look better than him being labelled as getting the 'sack' on a simple avoiding compensation matter.

McCarthy would be the steady option. Redknapp the 'big time' option. Or we could go down the Sherwood or Shearer route but would be better in my eyes at this time to have someone with experience especially that of getting out of the second tier.

mccarthy and sherwood could be a good pair, a manager with vast championship experience and knows what it takes to get out of that league and with sherwood a future manager.

kean should have gone last christmas when blackburn had hope of turning it around and be safe without problems but the owners decided to stick and got relegated. that little run they had over the crimbo period into january was down to eric black coming in has kean's assisstant or is that coincidence?

would go with sherwood but with someone like tony parkes or even eric black as no 2.

would like to see a full house for the game with wolves just to show the media.

only thing worrying me is that the new manager will have nothing to spend until next season unless he sells players. sounds like used all the money this window mind u have a good enough squad and any half decent manager would be able to keep us least in playoff positions
