RE: Football Banter
With regards to the FA taking this further resulting in JT walking away from england, i'd just like to say that we have lost one of the best central defenders we have had for a long time

RE: Football Banter
would he quit football altogether if the written explanation he's requested from the FA doesn't satisfy him?

but will we now see an outbreak of an Team Terry/Team Ferdinand war like it was with Team Terry/Team Bridge?

The verdict in the Terry case has not been published yet, but in the Suarez case mikedafc is wrong to imply that provocation was not taken into consideration by the FA or was ignored by them. The published verdict in that case clearly states that Evra was the initiator of the confrontation.

RE: Football Banter
Just an update on the other leagues in Europe.

La Liga Points

Top 4

1. Barcelona 15
2. Atletico Madrid 13
3. Real Mallorca 11
4. Malaga 11

Bottom 3

18. Granada 2
19. Espanyol 1
20. Osasuna 1

If Atletico Madrid can keep all their key players fit then I think they are capable of winning La Liga this season. I'm very surprised to see Malaga so high up the table considering they sold so many key players this summer. Also I'm shocked to see Espanyol in the relegation zone, as they are usually so solid.

Bundesliga

Top 4 Points

1. Bayern Munich 15
2. Eintracht Frankfurt 13
3. Hannover 96 10
4. Schalke 04 10

Bottom 3

16. SpVgg Greuther Furth 4
17. VfB Stuttgart 2
18. FC Augsburg 1

Bayern Munich are looking very good this season, there squad is better than last season. Eintracht Frankfurt have been the surprise package at the top half of the table so far this season, but Stuttgart are really struggling so far this season.

Serie A

Top 3 Points

1. Juventus 13
2. Napoli 13
3. Sampdoria 10

Bottom 3

18. Cagilari 2
19. Palermo 1
20. Siena -1

Juventus looking very good this season, they carrying on from where they left off last season and are on a 43 game league unbeaten run. Sampdoria are doing surprisingly well, but the two Milan clubs are struggling to hit top 4 and could find it tough to make the top 3. Palermo are struggling, hardly a surprise when they have Gaspirini in charge

Ligue 1

Top 3 Points

1. Marseille 18
2. Lyon 14
3. PSG 12

Bottom 3

18. Rennes 4
19. Nancy 4
20. Troyes 2

PSG finally hitting top form and I expect to go on and win the league

To be fair, the court didn't 'clear' him as such, the ruling given made it clear that it wasn't proven beyond reasonable doubt that the words used by Terry were being used in a racial manner, and not merely being repeated in a questioning way.
The FA appear to have found him guilty for what he said, regardless of the context or meaning,

So here we go again with managers like Tony Pulis saying players like Ivanovic should be banned for diving. He's right there should be bans for divers, but would he say the same thing if one of his own players dived.

In order for diving to stop, there needs to be bans and for managers to come out and be honest if one of their players dives

RE: Football Banter
I think the FA should consider spending some of its time and money looking at the consistency of referee's decisions throughout a match.

What i can't understand is what counts as a foul anywhere on the pitch apart from the area is a foul but not a penalty. You hear the commentators on the TV say 'if that happened it in centre circle it would be a foul' but ref's dont give penalties. Surely a foul is a foul where ever its commited?

If we are speaking about players being fined/banned for diving what about ref's (and linesman) being fined/banned for obvious/amateur mistakes?

RE: Football Banter
Well for your first point, I think that happens because referees are fearful of pissing off too many fans.

For your second point, I agree that referee's and linesmen should get punished for getting blatant calls wrong such as a demotion to the lower leagues. But although referees and linesmen make some bad calls, we should also remember that some decisions are difficult and are under huge pressure, so human error can be a factor.

If there are blatant bad calls made by a referee and linesmen then I also think it would be a great idea if referees gave interviews after matches.

I would also like to see a 5 man panel, who would gather every Monday morning and if they see diving, an elbow that the referee did not see or any other controversial decisions then they should be allowed issue or advise that this player or that player should be banned

He didn't seem to mind when Ricardo fuller won a pen against us when Ricardo said in an interview 'I felt a touch, so I went down'

Ive heard this said before and it really fucks me off, why should we have to put up with shit refs? Are we not worhy of a competent ref just cause we play in a lower league Huh

Refs have always made mistakes but the problem we have now is how the media highlight those mistakes, every little mistake gets replayed to death now, it's like when a Lino flags offside when nothing has really happened, they play it and the play it again, why? What are the media trying to do, it had no effect on the game so why highlight it so much?

And come on let's be honest, we all get awarded shit decisions for and against us, like the cliche goes, they always even themselves out eventually

The point I have in bold, shit I didn't think of that. It would be unfair for some of the lower leagues best refs taken away and be replaced by some poor refs in the top flight. The Premiership has enough luxuries already without taken that from the lower leagues. I'm stumped so what can be, bans perhaps or is that going over the top?Huh

Your second point, its simple the media feed on controversial decisions made by referees.

On your third point, yes we all get decisions that benefit our clubs and double fuck our clubs and they eventually balance themselves out. Like for instance I remember last Newcastle got a penalty our way at Old Trafford and I was over the moon and then the opposite would happen a few games and it would piss me off.

Now despite having decisions even out at the end of the season, should we be happy with that? Some of these calls by refs can decide titles, relegation or your league position and that worries me that some blatantly wrong calls can fuck up a teams season. Something has to be done and its not just in England were its an issue that needs sorting, its a world football issue
