RE: Football Banter
John Terry has decided to retire from international football.

He said: "I am making this statement today in advance of the hearing of the FA disciplinary charge because I feel the FA, in pursuing charges against me where I have already been cleared in a court of law, have made my position with the national team untenable."

regardless of the court case the fa was always going to do their own case against jt. england are better off without him anyway. the fa case is based on probabilities not concrete evidence like a court case just like the saurez and evra case saurez said something to evra but the camera angles could not pick up what saurez said this point out in the fa statements when released. jt should face the same sought of ban or longer than saurez did if jt is found guilty by the fa panel.

international wags are safe now. he will find a way of getting himself in on any england trophy lifting (IF) like he did in the champions league final.

RE: Football Banter
I don't think Terry is a trustworthy or honourable character at all. He has committed the ultimate sin against not only a team mate, but someone who was a friend. He has allegedly cheated on his wife on several occasions. He certainly should not have retained the captaincy of the national team for his actions. Not at all liked by many throughout the nation. However.....
The law courts in this country have found the man innocent of charges. Somewhere where evidence is scrutinised and a decision made on the findings by a judge and jury.
The FA should not have become further embroiled in this once that decision was made. How much of the FA's actions are down to the belief they think he is guilty of racism and how much of it instead is down to the FA wanting to be seen to stamp down on racism (Innocense or guilt not a consideration). If the FA have evidence to prove Terry's guilt then it should have surfaced in his trial where it would be hoped, a guilty verdict would have been reached.
To use the rule of probability is completely unfair. Ferdinand was unaware on the pitch of any incident. It was only when his girlfriend watched it on tv and lip read Terry that anything was noticed. Using the rule of probability you could equally say Ferdinands girlfriend misread Terry's lips.
I am not condoning Terry or any of his actions and I am certainly not in any way a supporter of racism. If he had been found guilty in a court of law then he should have faced the maximum penalty possible, but it seems ludricous that a footballer can be found innocent in the law courts of the land but found guilty in a 2nd trial by a bunch of bureacrats at FA headquarters!

i thought rio had a good game yesterday, he probably wont play for england again, but if he remains fit which is probably doubtful and england have a alot of defensive injuries and they need to call on him for a game or 2 i hope he turns round and tells hodgson to get fucked!

have your own opinion, lead dont follow.

RE: Football Banter
I've always thought there were two or even 3 sides to the coin with Terry (if that's possible... Rolleyes ).

On the field, he has been a warrior for the cause, for both club and country, for a decade. That's no mean feat. For two different England managers he was one of the first names on the team sheet ahead of every game and has been one of the few players in that team who have always given their all for the national team at major tournaments. He's inspired his club to European and domestic glory and is a natural leader of so many different nationalities within that team. It's no wonder his team mates respect him implicitly, even more so it seems than they did previous managers.

It's always been the other side that's cast the clouds. The affairs, the racism storm, the conduct during his sending off against Barcelona. Having said all that though, none of us are saints are we?

With his departure it gives other players a chance to step up. For me personally, I'd like to see Phil Jagielka and Joleon Lescott become regular England centre backs, and for Steven Gerrard to continue as captain at least until the next World Cup. But there's no doubt that a new generation of players need to be found to provide the backbone of this team for the next ten years.
