In one way it's really quite amusing watching the Conservative parliamentary party tear itself apart over yet another issue.
The moderates and the ERG battling for supremacy when neither will win.
Sunak trying for his version of a compromise which firstly isn't really a compromise at all and secondly has barely got much of an improved chance of getting through the courts as he hopes it will.
Would be politically hilarious if it ends up in a confidence vote .

The only trouble with this of course is this government in all its many guises has already proven itself as rotten to the core, dishonest, disreputable, disingenuous, callous, mean spirited, cold hearted, out of touch, two faced, hypocritical, double standard applying and useless.
The more time they spend in office the worse things get.

Other than all that of course they are completely bloody marvellous .

Rishi's planning to leave it as long as possible before the election, he's hoping that several of his 5 key measures have taken a turn for the better.

But the Tory right wing are disgruntled. Reports in some Tory scumbag papers are suggesting that the want Bozza back. And they want to bring Nigel Farage to help him in some role.

The way things are going there seems to be more chance of a confidence vote in Sunak happening before a general election is called .

This Rwanda thing is like watching the Tory party sit on their own ball sack

They are so hell bent on a scheme which will at best result in 200 people a year being sent to Rwanda out of 40k people in small boats. Imagine sitting there adamantly arguing that 0.5% chance is an affective deterent. All of this because they are afraid of a challenge from the right flank or worse, Reform at the next election.

And yet as I stated with Farage, reform is not as popular as the general consesus suggests. Right now in most of the polls they are at 10% give or take but I read an interesting thing from Peter Kellner where he said that a lot of that can be down to how the question is asked. In the polls where they are at 10% people were given a choice of the main parties + Reform, allowing them as the only alternative to soak up the protest vote

In an Ipos Mori Poll, they carried out a two part question where they asked respondants to choose between the main parties & other in the first part & then state the other party in the second. In the Ipsos poll refrom are at 4%.

If you look at The Tories recent byelection defeats the results for Reform are: Selby 3.7%, Somerton 3.7%, Mid Beds 3.7%, Tamworth 5.4%. So in 3 out of 4 of these Reform are underperforming their lowest polling figures

Now the Tories will rightly say that in the case of Mid Beds the votes for Reform would of been enough to hold onto the seat and that that could well happen in many seats across the country come the general but its amazing to see that they are focusing more on the tiny amount going to Reform instead of the larger number than didn't vote or voted for a left of centre party.

And yet surely they must know this, it's easy to look at cartoonish figures like Mark Francois & think that he's a thermonuclear idiot but surely if someone like me an non higher educated casual political observer can see the obvious then a professional politician with a degree in History & a masters in War Studies (because of course) knows it to be true. They just want what they want & don't care if they burn the whole thing down in the process.
