US supreme court justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, one of the 4 liberals, has died. Adds another dimension to the upcoming election. If Trump wins and the Republicans can hold the Senate to 50/50 (assuming they can't rush through a nomination before the election) then expect a far right judge to be appointed, jeopardising gay rights, trans rights, voting rights, possible criminalisation of abortion and maybe even the dismantling, in part, of the first amendment of the constitution.

There are several retiring GOP senators & some moderates that make this still in play. Trumps slumping in the polls is pulling some of those senators down with him, moderate Susan Collins is behind her Democratic challenger. The question is, how will someone like her read this? Will she read it as her being behind is because she is unpopular with the base for not being supportive of Trump therefore she goes against her conscience & votes to confirm or will she read it as, I was elected as a moderate, survived a Primary challenge from the right & I'm losing to a Democrat so I need to deny Trump's nominee to gain credibility from my larger electorate, since is the nature of a statewide election ?

An additional question is, in regards to the situation laid out in the CNN clip I shared, what if the Senate passes Trump's nominee, what Zakaria was talking about happens & although Biden wins the electoral college comfortably, then new conservative court does a 2000 it rues that Trump gets a 2nd term. Or the Senate fails to confirm, there are 8 justices & Roberts sides with the the 3 remaining liberals and there is a tie ?

They need 4 but i can see the ones that are in danger thinking fuck it im going to lose anyway might as well vote for it and have a conservative court and be seen as a hero to the party

Trump supporters wanted jobs brought back and they're getting that (until covid hit) . Covid has proved Trump right all along about the China problem. This were going swimmingly well before the Chinese virus escaped after the CCP tried to cover it up and failed to inform the world of its severity. There are more than enough voters who have lost their jobs in the pandemic who'll be angry about China and Trump will be the easiest choice of President ever given that he's taken such a hard line over them.

Yeah, just like he supposedly didn't 'give a fuck' about working class Americans yet they still chose him over Hillary Clinton. They could smell the lies of fake solidarity from the Democrats when it was their party that signed off NAFTA that decimated many American jobs. Even if Trump abandons Hong Kongers, you could expect at least as much servitude from Biden who has always been pro China.
