The arrogance of the man is unbelievable (although not unparalleled). He truly is Trump mark II! You don't make the rules Johnson, and you have to abide by the law - not dictate what the law should be, or how it should be interpreted!! He is dangerous, and even brexiteers should be very wary of him!! The risks he poses to our country, go way beyond the 'narrow' politics of Brexit! Narrow in the sense of it being just one area of politics that he is seeking to unduly influence (perhaps unlawfully - time will tell) What other issues - down the track - will he consider he has the right to prorogue Parliament, and potentially defy the law over??

He will get a lot more public support than he should with his intervention, we have allowed a narrative that direct democracy is how our system functions. That all democracy is, is putting an X on a piece of paper every now and again and whoever gets the most X's (though almost always a lot less than 50%) wins outright and then has to do the public's bidding exactly. The concept of democracy as a representative process, where informed individuals make the best decision on our behalf, & as a system that is held up by independent institutions such a The Judiciary is pretty much on life support these days.
