RE: Scottish Football
Today the draw for the Scottish Cup 5th round was made and it went as follows.

Alloa Athletic v Dumbarton
Clyde or Stranraer v Inverness Caledonian Thistle
Hibernian v Raith Rovers
Albion Rovers v Stenhousemuir
Brechin City or Forfar Athletic v St Johnstone
Celtic v Aberdeen
Dundee United v Queen of the South or St Mirren
Rangers v Ayr United or Dunfermline Athletic

Ties to be played on the weekend of 8/9 February

Tie of the round has to be Celtic v Aberdeen, I'm delighted that my Dundee United team avoided them and also been given a home tie against opposition which if we're on top of our game should hopefully progress through to the next round.

Depending on the results it would be very interesting to see if we can get another Old Firm Derby too in the next round, Rangers may technically be 2 divisions lower but I think we all know that if they were both in the same league then it would be business as usual with the rest of us scraping it out for 3rd place Cool

RE: Scottish Football
I was pleased for Albion Rovers' giantkilling exploits at the weekend.

I was less pleased as they beat East Stirling 3-2 last night Sad As a positive, we did comeback from 2-0 down, but we still lost. We can't be that bad, we were top a few weeks back. But whether we've got players missing, I dunno. Hopefully it's just a temporary slump.

Oh, Rangers won 6-1 if anybody's interested Wink

Thankfully East Stirling managed an equaliser to get a draw, but now down to 6th after another day of results that bring more teams into the title picture.

I noticed Dundee Utd managed to down the mighty Hearts and are now up to 3rd Smile

I'm amused that Rangers seemed to struggle more against the East Stirlings & co Big Grin

Yes indeed we are Smile Yet another hammering dished out from the mighty arabs Big Laugh All I have to say to the other teams and that includes Celtic Wink is come and have a go if you think you're hard enough Smile

All the results from the weekend went as follows Big Grin

Motherwell 0 Celtic 5
Dundee United 4 Hearts 1
Hibernian 1 Partick Thistle 1
Ross County 1 Kilmarnock 2
St Johnstone 0 Aberdeen 2
St Mirren 0 Inverness CT 0

Elsewhere very good result for Aberdeen beating the in form St Johnstone and ofcourse the other free scoring team Celtic putting 5 past Motherwell showed too that they also know the way to the back of the net Cool

Ouch, what a reversal of fortune for the Hoops tonight.
6-1 to Barcelona. They probably have a better squad than Motherwell, to be fair.

RE: Scottish Football
Let's not beat around the bush here or try to play it down but Celtic got bloody murdered tonight Wink It's very unusual to see Celtic so subdued like this but they were outclassed in every department, you could argue that some of Barcelona's goals were a touch fortunate but they provided a masterclass and showed just how big the gulf now is when you put Scotlands finest up against Spain's finest.

As a Scotsman I always support all the Scottish teams in Europe and Celtics Champions League adventure this year has been very disappointing, all be it they were always going to be in for a tough ride as the group they were drawn in was possibly the worst draw they could have expected but I somehow thought they might have just have pulled off the impossible like they'd done in previous campaigns.
