RE: The Official WWE Discussion Thread
Not a bad Royal Rumble PPV but seen a lot better highlights for me Asuka vs.Becky Lynch, Zelina Vega Sillyness with Hornswoggle, Io Shirai saving Kairi Sane from Riott Squad maybe a feud in the works , Becky winning it , Finn Bálor vs. Brock Lesnar, Jeff Jarrett & Elias , NXT Talent in Rumble and finally Nia Jax in MENS Royal Rumble Match

Royal Rumble 2019 - (SPOILERS)

Asuka vs Becky Lynch

For me, easily the best match of the night. Enough back and forth swings to maintain interest, the crowd seemed very much in to it - so it was probably a good thing it was first on the televised Sky Box Office broadcast. I was frustrated with Asuka retaining but Becky later entering the women's rumble and winning was an excellent move from WWE. Love her - she's so spunky... Tongue Wink

The Bar vs Shane & Miz

Absolutely agree with goatman - it was ok, it was fun, but it was also let down by the outcome being way too obvious.

Ronda Rousey vs Sasha Banks

I thought Sasha carried it throughout and Ronda's performance was terrible. I counted an awful lot of botched moves, from both ladies, but on a hopelessly worse scale from Ronda. Sasha was good in parts but the dangerously botched moves from both were very frustrating, almost upsetting. Sad

Women's Rumble

For me more exciting than the men's. Great ending from Becky. Generated plenty of heat and excitement from the crowd, far more so than the men's. Some silly moments, sure (Alicia Fox and Maria Rolleyes ) but I could tolerate those because there were plenty of other good moments where new stars got a chance to shine, whereas in the men's rumble, those silly moments just came across as deeply annoying and added nothing to the progression of the newbies. Great to see the women's match getting for me, a great reaction.

Daniel Bryan vs AJ Styles

As goatman said, a good match that deserved a better involvement from the crowd. Eric Rowan interrupting was a crap ending. I would assume the crowd were tired after the good women's rumble match but nevertheless, they were very slow to get involved.

Brock Lesnar vs Finn Balor

An entirely predictable outcome but was good to see Balor proving himself as a main-eventer and was equally good to see Lesnar getting fucked up. I hate Brock, just wish WWE would fuck him off altogether. I was hoping Balor would have busted him open externally as well as (kayfabe ??) internally, but in the end I suppose I knew that Lesnar would have squeezed out a victory. Damn him. annoyed

Men's Rumble

A tired, stale and predictable outcome containing the usual frustrating silly moments of has-beens and no-hopers attempting to bury some decent new stars. I was pleased Seth won, but it didn't feel epic enough. Pleased he has chosen to face Lesnar at WM, but I need WWE to plan their next moves very carefully going forward. Near the end of the match we had a woman, Nia Jax, getting beaten up by three guys. That was a terrible segment and not the message that WWE should be sending. Another woeful lack of heat from the crowd too. Too many times that happened throughout the contest and it must be disheartening for the promising NXT stars that it was supposed to be showcasing. Sad

So another mixed bag but the women's division is getting great coverage and has more interesting development.

RE: The Official WWE Discussion Thread
Regarding Dean Ambrose his contract expires in April & although WWE have offered Ambrose a new contract & pay-rise apparently he hasn't been happy with the storylines & direction his character is going.Often when WWE wrestlers express disatisfaction usually via twitter or media reports (character role or no screen time) ie Rusev,Zack Ryder,Shelton Benjamin,Nakamura, Revival etc they usually get a respite or even a short title reign & then disappear again. And I suppose that would be the case with Hideo Itami which is why I picked him for a brief Cruiserweight title stint by winning the fatal 4 way at the Rumble.

Just as I was anticipating a Wyatt Family reunion Eric Rowan pops up as Daniel Bryan's underling & I agree with the above comments the ending to the AJ/Bryan match was garbage.Of the two Rumble matches I did prefer the women's rumble that seemed to feature more surprise entrants despite the oh too predictable either Becky or Charlotte winning it.

I knew of no reason to expect Itami leaving, I just thought WWE were more likely to put the belt on anyone other than him. I know he had an injury, but WWE clearly didn't feel his reputation was worthy of trusting. Or maybe they felt they already had Nakkers on SD, and didn't need to test Vince's blood pressure too far.

The main problem with the japanese talent is they can't get over with the crowd which is due to not being able to speak english nakamura and asuka only get a crowd reaction for their entrance and once the bell rings the crowd is pretty much dead and itami in the 2 or 3 year he has been in the wwe has never been over and its because they can't really put them in any stories

It Does Not Help That Hideo Itami has been injured for most of his WWE Run and he can't do most of his trademark moves because other WWE wrestlers use them

Thats true but his main issue is he has no personality thats a lot of the problem of the current stars they truly are vanilla midgets... the rock has more charisma in his little finger than the whole roster has combined
