^This is an interesting article and where the nasty party might go next.

RE: General Election Vote
Worth noting, I think, that the map above is based on data from before the election. It is not a map of Ukip's vote this time round.

The April article in the Telegraph contrasts it directly with a map of UK population born abroad to try and answer these questions:

"Do those who oppose immigration actually know any immigrants?

And, conversely, do those who sing its praises ever feel its effects?

...The first group accuse their opponents of being effete metropolitan liberals, out of touch with the concerns of the working classes. The second group says the first are driven by ignorance and intolerance."

RE: General Election Vote
Usually I try not to follow my own posts but I thought this might add something while we are doing illustrations and discussing who are targets of the political blame game and where the next cuts will fall...

I've always found it interesting that all we seem to hear criticised in the UK welfare budget are JSA (or whatever it comes under these days), housing benefit and so on. When we look at a breakdown of the benefit budget these are pretty small fry compared to the pensions behemoth.

(These are 2011/12 figures - the latest I could find illustrated nicely online. The general comparative sizes should be much the same three years on.)

^Of course Cameron & cronies won't suffer at all because most of them are millionaires or near to to it.
It would be interesting if they did attack something like the massive pension pot and did target pensioners. I wonder how long there government would remain in power then.

Oh I didn't forget. I was not trying to suggest where the cuts should come but to ask why the focus was normally elsewhere. Best to let people make up there own minds on such things I think.

RE: General Election Vote
^I can imagine mister potato head Cameron trying to justify by talking about the war generation,we're all in it together etc etc.
Wouldn't be surprised if a tory think tank somewhere is generating ideas of compulsory euthanasia for pensioners when they reach a certain age. Of course it would only apply to poor pensioners because they would be seen as the biggest drain on the system.

Charles is more likely to get his hands dirty if he gets to be King than you clearly realise.

Quite right.

10 things that Prince Charles wrote letters about.

1. The issue of Lynx helicopters performing poorly in high temperatures.
2. He expressed concern about the plight of the Patagonian Toothfish.
3. The controversial culling of badgers to stop TB spreading to cows.
4. His letters being subject to a future Freedom of Information request.
5. He wanted the Culture Secretary to treat Antarctica as British territory.
6. Plans for herbal medicine, acupuncture and complementary medicine.
7. The closure of Armagh Gaol and what could be done with the site.
8. The dominant position of the big supermarkets and the effect on prices.
9. The sale of NHS properties and worries about wider building projects.
10. He wanted to address a gap in the teaching of English and History.
