The only plausible destination (target?) would be Diego Garcia.

It may be simple altruism but there's definitely a film to be had out of this.

I wouldn't hold your breath. He's been working on a remake of "The Dambusters" for about 75 years...

Has the pilot voice been analysed for signs of stress or anything untoward? Although everything appeared to be normal from the plane's radio transmissions, of course it may not have been, so I would have thought this kind of voice analysis was an obvious line of investigation.

You've got to be kidding. It took over 3 weeks to decide that it was the pilot speaking and not the co-pilot.

This is a new line of enquiry: "Police are investigating whether the food served on board the missing Malaysian airliner was poisoned. Malaysia’s top police officer Khalid Abu Bakar said the plane’s food caterers were being scrutinised". (Reuters)

Would they claim responsibility? Perhaps you're remembering how the IRA used to act and imagining that all terrorists are the same. When did anyone claim responsibility for 9/11? Or the Bali bombings? Bin Laden mentioned 9/11 in one of his videos, but that was 3 years later, and even then he didn't say he was responsible. Al-Qaeda did claim responsibility for the 7 July London bombings, 3 months after the event, but intelligence analysts reckon the claim was false. The men convicted of the Bali bombings went to their deathbeds denying responsibility, and trying to appeal against their convictions, and although the Bali bombings eventually got a mention in one of Bin Laden's videos he didn't claim to be responsible either.

The pilot's simulator has been declared clean, since the FBI examiners have agreed with Malaysian police that there's nothing suspicious about it. Some deleted files were retrieved but contained nothing of interest.

Maybe they didn't see it? But then Diego Garcia is supposed to be able to see a missile launched in North Korea, so how can it not see an unidentified plane flying towards it? bladewave

If it wasn't for Inmarsat's advice, where would searchers be looking for the plane now? You decide.
