RE: Football Banter
Gaz i totally agree with you mate. You're so right, the lower league whilst the attendance is significantly lower have the loyalest fans. FACT. I'm an arsenal fan, and i have been for the last eleven years now. And i can see how as soon as arsenal go a goal down, or an arsenal player isn't playing well the fans just turn on him in a blink of an eye and start booing and stuff. I mean granted i get pissed off as well at time, like when we lost to tottenham after being 2-0 up, but you should have seen some of the arsenal fans that day, disgracing the club with what they were saying. You just would not see that at the lower leagues. True support there.

And the money is ruining the premiership, thats why i absolutely hate Chelsea and Man city and Real Madrid trying to buy titles. Credit to you though mate, for supporting a team in the lower league.

Spot on with the time and day lindor. It was on the Saturday at 3 p.m which is very strange. We actually stayed in Liverpool the Friday and Saturday nights. A decent Evertonian taxi driver (not many decent EvertoniansTongue) took us up to Old Trafford from Liverpool early Saturday morning and collected us after the game and brought us back for £25 pounds each. He wanted £100 in total i think if i remember correct but we eventually got it for £75!!!!

It doesnt stick in my memory that i was searched going in on the day. It may well have happened. I didnt actually hear that there was some sort of bomb hoax until i got back home to Ireland on the Sunday.

The thing about the game that really sticks in my mind (apart from us beating ye and me having to withold my joy in a crowd of whinging mancs of course Big Laugh ) was the abuse a young Cristiano Ronaldo got from his own supporters after he got booked for throwing the ball away after a decision went against him. He was a no good, flash, Portuguese sulker and he was never ever going to be good enough!!!! hahaha

Judge me by my size do you? Hmmm? Hmmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the force. And a powerful ally it is.

Yeah, it's standard procedure for all away fans to get frisked upon entering Old Trafford, Gazfc, but on this specific occasion everyone, not just the scousers got searched as there was some rumour that Al Quaida wanted to target the biggest football fixture in the English calendar to make some sort of political statement against the west; pretty ironic really as United and Liverpool were so far off the Premiership pace that season that even Sky didn't screen it, hence the 3.00pm kick-off.

Cristiano Ronaldo was always disliked, even by United fans, for his petulance as this was always likely to go against him one day when he would be denied a genuine penalty due to his previous.

I have numerous issues with Ferguson myself, and selling Ronaldo for £80million at the time was indeed the right decision as the player wanted away, but I would argue with Bigguy01 that it's the only good thing he's done in the Premiership. I'd hazard that even the most biased anti-United fraternity would agree that you can't fluke eleven Premiership titles, five FA Cups, two European Cups and four League Cups as well as a few other minor trophies, less we'd all be asking him to pick our lottery numbers, wouldn't we?

Oh, and Gazfc, a Tottenham fan at work who went to Old Trafford this season confirmed that he too paid £41 with the higher-priced tickets at £51. I'm amazed away fans are charged so much, although why I'm amazed, I don't know.Huh

Can't wholly agree that lower-league fans are better supporters than those in the Premiership to be honest. That's just a generalisation as there are extremely committed fans of all clubs, be they big or small, as well as pockets of fairweather fans and Johnny-come-latelies who only bother when the team achieves success (where have the missing thousands gone from Hull City AFC's home matches since relegation? Hmmmbladewave! I supported United when they were pretty shite in the 1980s and have always made 240-mile round trips to home games. Lucky for me that my team is now so successful, but as any true football fan would recognise, I'd still be going if we were in League Two - and yes, probably detesting the Premiership and everything it stands for!

Tbf I'm surprised at how few we've lost, it's about 2800, away supporters is around 1500 less each game aswell. We charge £25 for tickets

It doesn't bother me been searched, I have to do it to people at work all the time

RE: Football Banter
25-60 for 90 minutes of football is expensive, in 2009 i went to watch leicestershire v middlesex,£10 for the day, i saw about 16wickets fall for about 350runs, better entertainment than some prem league games inlcuding the big games which sometimes are a bore, like satursdays man utd v man city, yes rooney's goal was good but not the best ever.

unfortunatly football today is about the £'s, £40-£50m for winning the champions league (tv rights, bonus payments, matchday money), £30-£40m for winning the prem league(tv rights, bonus payment). those get promoted from championship to prem league will get over 3yrs £90m+ (regardless of relegation, parachute payments), hence why west brom are too good for the championship but too rubbish for the prem league.

a qatari group wanted to buy man utd £1.6bn, glazers now have an evaluation of the club to use to get better deals on thier loans which they have placed on man utd books. they have moved to delaware and formed a new company to run man utd with new directors and officers so they can keep everthing secret like where they got the funding for the repayments of payment in kind loans which are very expenive to have. sooner or later the glazers will take money out of the club to repay their loans and still leave the club in debt. man city and chelsea will go under if their chairmen pull out, clubs like sunderland, totteham, villa etc need to be careful because they might end up doing a leeds utd.

Quality post with the AC Milan vid groundnpound mate I didn't know that, although I bet they didn't join in when it was belowing out at half time in the Ataturk Stadium in IstanbulSmile

I've heard a few teams sing You'll Never Walk Alone to Utd & Everton at a few grounds but I've never heard Villa, Sunderlad or Newcastle sing it for themselvesSad I've also heard Blue Moon sung at Utd by other teams...... I don't know football banter, what a jolly old bit of funSmile

Dortmund's Signal Iduna Park/Westfalenstadion is one of if not the best ground in Europe for the atmosphere 80,000 every game & when they're bouncing in the stand it looks quality. The stadium atmosphere in the Bundesliga is the best league in Europe with no comparisons what so ever when it come to full stadiums & atmosphere.

I always look for Dortmund's results as I've liked them since watching them win the Champions League final in 1997, Borussia Dortmund 3-1 Juventus back when they had one of the best teams in Europebladewave.... Well they had the best team in Europe.
