The American team came back fighting, and a few of the Europeans buckled.
Puts that were made in the first two days were being missed.

Next time the US may consider Donald Trump for their team. He's never lost a match of golf.

All Hail the heroic Aberg, probably one of the least hyped members of the European team, but who really contributed when needed.

Oh, and the rest of Team Europe too 15-13 is just about enough to balance out that comeback.

Can we say it was better than Medinah - or does Medinah still rank the best win on American soil?

The excuses have start:

Team USA captain Keegan Bradley has called for the envelope rile to be scapped before the next Ryder Cup.
Viktor Hovland was compelled to withdraw from competition due to a neck injury sustained during Saturday's fourball session. If he was unable to play Keegan wants him to forfeit the match.

But it wouldn't have done him any good as they would still have lost.

If they get it scrapped, 5'll get you 10 that they need it next time and will bellyache at its loss.

Apparently they have benefitted from this rule twice before in the past, one of them was even closer than this 1991. Smacks of sour grapes and excuses.

Shane Lowry interview on the final green summed up team europe when Lowry said the Ryder cup was everything to him. Doubt it means everything to most of the USA team.

Might well have done but you never know. In a parallel universe Lowry's half point putt wouldn't have got Europe over the line and pressure then going to the remaining players. All ifs and buts of course.

Interesting too that in the women's Solheim Cup the opposition to the injured gets the full point. How it should be IMO.

^^ Not surprised by this at all, Tom is a class act & a gentleman in every sense of the word. He is decent enough to apologize on behalf of of a minority who wouldn't have the intelligence to recognize that an apology was necessary, they are not genuine sports fans, less so golf fan, just mindless louts. The game of golf has no place for trash like these, it is a game of honour, honesty, etiquette & above al fair play, none of these values would be recognized by these idiots. The USPGA should be held accountable for failing to control the situation, and by their actions they have in many ways encouraged the toxic atmosphere in the hope of gaining an advantage, but an unfair advantage.

Regarding the envelope rule, it's really a none story because going into this years Ryder Cup both sides know the terms regardless of the right or wrong & even if they don't like the idea of sharing the points when an injuries occurs on the oppositions team that is purely the luck of the draw. They (USA) sure as hell aren't complaining about what they maybe perceive as an advantage is it's one of their players withdrawing through injury.
The rule as it stands with me fits well with what golf stands for as an honest sport with integrity, one which players call penalty shots on themselves. Hovland would be devastated to be unfit to compete & would back himself to gain a full point if fully fit, no way would he fake an injury, so not recording his match as a loss is a good compromise.
I'm explaining my stance on this poorly, but what I'm trying to say is an injury is something unplanned & accidental & therefore I don't feel the team should lose points in these circumstances. In almost every other team sports, a substitute is the solution, I wouldn't be against that.

I wasn't aware that the Solheim Cup has a different rule (forfeit) to the Ryder Cup, it would make sense to have some collusion & for men & women to play under the same rules, in almost every aspect both sexes play to the same on course rules & I see no reason for this rule to be any different despite it being specific to a team format competition, having as many rules that mirror each other for both sexes offers greater clarity to all involved.
