The World Championship at The Crucible is just over a month away. Could be the most competitive tournament for a number of years. Really looking forward to it .

Mark Selby has won the China Open title with a 10-2 victory over unheralded Gary Wilson.
The World Champion will head to the Crucible in good spirits for the defence of his World crown later on this month.

Yeah, credit to Wilson. Always nice to see new faces doing well.

Reanne Evans has narrowly failed in her attempt to progress from the first qualifying round for The World Championship losing 10-8 to 1997 World Champion Ken Doherty.

Steve Davis is also out of qualifying after a 10-1 trouncing by Kurt Maflin .

Jimmy White led Matthew Selt 7-2 but lost 8 out of the last nine frames to crash out 10-8 to Matthew Selt .

But on the plus side, Peter bloody Ebdon lost as well!

Ah yes Peter Ebdon.
For some reason memories come flooding back of encounters between Cliff Thorburn and Terry Griffiths every time I think of Ebdon .

Philistines !!! Watching Ebdon is one of the joys of life. His methodical style is much missed on the big stage, I think. Surely it's time ol' Jimmy hung up his cue. The fact he blew such a big lead over such an average player shows he doesn't belong any more. Bow out with some dignity Jim. Davis at least looks competitive at times. As does super Ebdon
