I'm sorry but, the way that reads, you haven't done Kev any favours here.

The "THATCHER DEAD" thread on this forum offers clear evidence that many chose to blame their own social and emotional inadequacies on the establishment, rather than take control of their own lives.

The key word here is "choose". That's the second time you've referred to the Thatcher thread. On there I see alot of people passing an opinion on a politician who affected the lives of everyone in the country at the time, some for the better, some for the worse. It's called freedom of speech. Which of those members who commented do you consider to be socially and emotionally inadequate?

I totally agree. However people in that category tend to be that way most of their adult lives. Is there any evidence Kev has had previous problems?
It's a chicken and egg situation - did Kev run up a £91k phone bill because he has mental health issues or does he have mental health issues because he ran up a £91k phone bill?

There's a subtle difference.

On reflection I agree, I shouldn't have taken that person spinning conspiracy theories seriously.

If I go naming names then it is inevitable the post will be deleted.

I think there were issues prior to picking up the phone, loneliness, depression, sadness, it would seem the calls provided a brief (expensive) cure. And that momentary relief was craved for 20 plus hours a day in those two months, with no thought of the ultimate consequences.

At least he is on the road to recovery now.

RE: £91,000 phone bill calling chatlines
The story of this thread seems to be forever changing. First of all it was Vodafone's fault and they were outed in the national press to try and prove the point and shame them. Then Kev took to twitter to explain that the real villains were actually the babe channels. Correction, the money grabbing babe channels and the girls who suggested he call them back when he timed out. Then the story changed again and Kev became a vulnerable person with a genuine problem who simply couldn't control himself and who shouldn't be ridiculed for causing his own problem. Now judging by the latest article it's back to square one with Vodafone being the ones to blame again and the press being used to publicise that stance once more.

Well Kev is not consistent with his claims. An example is his claim that the bill had been paid and the matter therefore settled, which was later amended to a claim that the bill had been cancelled by Vodafone (which some people here doubted), which in turn seems to have been amended again to the bill still being outstanding.

This only ends one way.

If Kev's MP brought the matter up in Parliament I think the focus wouldn't be on the babe channels, but on the irresponsibility of Vodafone in allowing him to run up such a bill in the first place, whoever Kev was calling.

^^^

That reuters article is from June last year, the Guardian article is from 2010!

Vodafone's tax avoidance may be morally dubious, but it is done legally.
Whereas, running up a 90grand bill and not paying it ... well, you decide!

Im shocked that you people are still talking about him,

He's an idiot that phoned & phoned & phoned the show's until he's bill was stupidly high now he has the nerve to say he doesn't want to pay it.

At the end of the day he's the one that picked up that phone every time no one else done it for him, he should have to pay the bill & if he doesn't think that, then he's just OTT stupid
