RE: Top Gear
does look like Clarkson is leaving tg from what he's said in his sun newspaper column. if he does, Suzi Perry would be a good replacement for Clarkson with all her years doing motorsport, however's she's now very busy with Formula 1 till November so can't see her replacing Clarkson. johnny Vaughn would be a good replacement. or bbc may decide to carry on with Hammond and May. Chris Evans or Jay Kay would be good too

RE: Top Gear
With all the different versions of TG around the world, the BBC could simply import a couple of shows from a different version to fill in the gaps. How about Aussie Top Gear for a change, but not the US one, that is dire.

Jensen Button may be free to present it soon if his Forumula 1 form doesn't improve.

RE: Top Gear
I wouldn't be writing Clarkson off just yet. This whole incident has become quite tiresome and should have been handled by all concerned as an internal disciplinary matter. Something Clarkson has stated himself. People are quick to condemn him without knowing the full facts but if he does leave or is pushed it will be the death of the programme in its current format (thats the one that has made it just about the most watched tv programme on the bbc).
As for his comment in the Sun. Perhaps he is making reference to the BBC toffs when he talks about dinosaurs lol. His article was quite ambiguous and could just be him calling the BBC's bluff ahead of the trial by fire next week. If he was indeed hinting at leaving then he might simply be trying to scare the bean counters into backing down... or cutting their losses if they decide the damage to their image is costlier than the money he brings in.

Just seen his 'tash on the F1 Qualifying show, that alone rules him out (plus he's currently slower than Captain Slow)!

There's a whole load of bluff and bluster around, with contradictory allegations of the events.
The fact there's still apparently been no official complaint, with Clarkson apparently having raising it himself with his bosses several weeks after the incident, I can't help feeling the BBC have blown this all out of proportion and got themselves into an unneccessary mess. They could have just said, OK, carry on with the show, while we quietly look into this matter behind the scenes.

I personally can see a fudge of a solution, Clarkson is reprieved by lack of real evidence, but then fails to renew his contract and walks away.

As for potential replacements, I can't help noticing that pretty much all the names mentioned are 'celebs' of some sort, actors, comedians, tv presenters. Lets not forget that Clarkson himself has a journalistic background, and that undoubtedly gives his opinions on the cars more merit, and without that, TG will struggle to maintain any credibility with either the audience or the motoring profession, and will quickly go downhill.
