That's true. AVB has won the Portuguese league and the Europa Cup. McClaren won the Dutch League and reached the final of the Europa Cup.

both are tactically clueless in english football.

But McClaren got Middlesbrough to finish 7th in the Premier League - their best position for 30 years. He also won the League Cup - Middlesbrough's first major trophy in their entire history. He also reached 2 FA Cup semi-finals in 5 years. In winning the League Cup in 2004 he became the first English manager to win an honour for 8 years and when Middlesbrough reached the UEFA final he became the first English manager to do so for 22 years.
