I remember that. That would have warranted a straight red in the Prem today. If I remember rightly, the French player was through on goal and Schumacher just took him out. That turned the game on it's head and Germany had a man advantage. I don't think Schumacher even apologised for what he did either.
We can thank the italians for putting them in their place in the Final.

it turned out wrong that's for sure but as he said at the time he was taking off an 18 year old debutant and replacing him with the captain of russia. he said the lad was flagging but the only person that can honestly tell you if thats true is oxlade chamberlain. it's one of those, if it goes right you're a genius, if it goes wrong you look foolish. fans (including myself) showed their displeasure at the decision at the time, but it will be forgotten and forgiven very quickly!

p.s. arsharvin should have left the club in the summer. he's not good enough!

beckham and arseshaving have one thing in common, they both had one decent game, beckham against the greeks at old tafford in 2002 wc qualifier and arseshaving had the game against liverpool where he scored a hattrick and tore liverpool to pieces.

if anyone else was in charge at arsenal the likes of arseshavings, rosicky, koscielny, almunia, squillaci, djoroum bendtner, denilson, wallcott, chamakh would have been moved on permanently. gervinho, park, benayoun would not have been brought into the club.

wenger has lost the plot. grandpa henry cant save him. im surprised he let frimpong go to wolves on loan has he had a brilliant game last weekend before he got injured. frimpong could become the new vieira.

It might be forgotten about you but it won't be forgotten by and many others if we finish outside the top 4, I put so much trust into him to put it right after last season's debacle, this was a gradual thing, panicking buying players (Arteta who I rate has a 4 four contract for a 30 year old, which is against Wenger's policy which made us lose Pires so early) after the 8-2 in the summer, refusal to change tactics when required, refusal to fix defensive frailties, refusal to change formation in compliance to the injuries we receive, the proceed to blame everything on the injuries when it all goes wrong when the obvious solution is to have solid backup instead of over=paying players like Diaby, Denilson & Almunia who we can't even sell because of his wages.

I would also like to say because we want him to go doesn't mean we don't acknowledge him as one of greatest managers for Arsenal, because he is and when he leaves he will rightly deserve that accolade, but what he is doing now is not working and his position at this time and how long it's been shouldn't be judged on previous achievements which dates all the way back to 2006 (CL Final)

Obviously not everything is certain in regards to the situation because of our silent board, is the money there or not? if it is why isn't it being spent? why are ours standards low? The stadium we built was meant to be made for us to compete with the big boys, why aren't we?

If the board were to come out tomorrow with a statement that money is strained at Arsenal, then everything Wenger has done to keep us up where we are should be considered a massive feat for a manager, I just don't see that being the case (Spending £15m on AOC, thats after add-ons by the way, but saying no to mata because Valencia wanted a £3-4 more mils)

I have no issue with the signing of AOC, but how can fans (not saying anyone here) say money is tight at Arsenal to buy first team players to help us then watch us do that?

Okay no one could ever predict an Arab coming over and spend 1 Billion within 2-3 years, but it is not as if they were buying players we need or wanted, we made quite a healthy sum of cash from them overpaying for some of ours (Adebayor, Toure) why aren't we investing it back into the team? We see our manager hassling over a few millions here and there, sometimes it best to pay what they want and get it done with, managers overpay for players, it happens, sometimes it's more rewarding that way (Pre-season with the team, etc)

So Bolton want £20m for Cahill in the summer, Okay no problem I'd definitely agree we shouldn't pay so much for a player like him, we solved that with the signing of Mertesacker (Who fortunately for us, as an Arsenal Fan and idolizes Mr. Arsenal), I'm talking bout players that can make a big difference like Eden Hazard (Which may be to late now, due to the massive interest from other big clubs, I see Lille easily getting over £30m for him if they play there cards right)

Fans are reacting strongly against Wenger, if you ask me 5 years ago if this would happen, I would laugh at your face and possibly slap you for such an ridiculous statement, but he first and foremost, isn't helping himself.

Not heard anything on that mate. Most of the stories in January are rubbish anyway, so i wouldn't lose any sleep over it. He looks a natural finisher, so he'd be a good addition to any team. Think he's a Red, isn't he?

On the subject of the match, I also don't like the way Villas-Boas is trying to pressurise Ferdinand into shaking John Terry's hand before the game. He's having a laugh talking about "respect for the opponent". John Terry does nothing from his actions on or off the pitch to deserve any respect. If anything, the whole QPR team should refuse to shake his hand, not just Ferdinand. That really would send a message.
