And just to add to the various 'technical issues' last night the quoted web qualities were all over the place. The highest was quoted at 853*720 whereas it was the normal 1280*720 that was sent.

As for the video quality, DB83: They upscale an SD stream, don't they?

I wrote some days ago about the broadcast (tv) stream - if it was not SD I could not view it (In fact all the tv channels for this type of content over here are SD)

There is a quite small upscale from 1024*576 (720*576) to 1280*720. However this is quite effective since the 720p stream will use less bitrate (2800 kbps) than the SD stream which would require at least 3500 kbps. Some sat receivers can tell you the bitrate and record that natively. My sat stream is passed to an upscaling HDD/dvd-recorder but when I wish to record I must set the bitrate.

^^ They could still do that. Check the stream during the day and you will see clean-feed highlights from fairly recent shows.

They have never streamed a clean-feed on their own site. The clean feed was streamed by another site and that ended when Adobe ended support for flash streams and the site player was reconfigured. Theoretically, they could still stream clean from that service. They probably found it not cost effective with few if any calls to that service.

I think they could reduce the size of their graphics, but you are right: It makes no sense for them having a clean feed.
