Well from what I understand about this (Which is not much compared to Hex!t) the first one on the list is you or your first gateway. The last one is this forum. All the one's in between are the exchanges that the signal has to pass through for you to connect to this forum. The list will be different in some way for everyone, depending on your location and provider. But it allows Admin to spot which exchanges in particular are lagging, and therefore slowing your connection to the site.

There is nothing you can do about it. It just narrows down there being any faults with this forum.

Of course I may be totally wrong in my understanding of it. But Hex!t will know more.

RE: slow boards help!!!... check here
your spot on aceman. what i was looking for was a reason that the forum is slowing down and it seems to be the hop from the uk to the US.

basically i started this to see if it was a site problem or a net problem. it turns out its a net problem, or it has been for the past week or so.
the reason i know this is that no 1 has actualy posted a time out on the hop that connects to the forum.
so now we know its not the site or admins fault, and theres little he can actually do about it.

Any Babe pics posted are my Take on existing photographs. credits for the original images stays with the copyright holder if any rights apply.

RE: slow boards help!!!... check here
I am not convinced that the traceroute info to http://www.babeshows.co.uk is pin pointing the actual problem, it seems to be a forum database access problem.
I was trying to access the "last post" in a thread yesterday when it was running slow.
I just got the usual "Waiting for www.babeshows......" in the firefox status bar.
While I was waiting for the page to load, I ran traceroute to http://www.babeshows.co.uk
I could not enter the actual address in traceroute of the post I was trying to access because it does not appear until the page has loaded.
The traceroute completed running well before the page loaded, with a few max times of around 180ms. The page took over 30 seconds to load.
Access to http://www.babeshows.co.uk was ok, its accessing posts "inside" it that was a problem.
If the address of a "last post" could be entered into traceroute that might be more useful.

ps
I just tried to enter the address for this page into traceroute a minute ago
www.babeshows.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=31801&page=3
but traceroute gives an error message and will not accept it. Sad

RE: slow boards help!!!... check here
^^^^ Yep The Watcher, I tried that the other day as well, with the same results.

I was having trouble accessing the Kelly Bell section, within the Elite threads. But no mater how many times I tried, I just couldn't get into them. And yet the rest of the forum was loading fine. Even the trace didn't show any peaks.

I too think there might be a compatibility issue going on here. As we all use a wide variety of browsers & operating systems. I can't see it being just the amount of people accessing that particular thread at the same time you are. But you never know.

To be honest, I think it's a browser compatibility problem. Because sometimes it just downloads the php, rather than opening it. And then it gets stuck in a loop, were it opens up tab after tab trying to open it.

It's either that, or the showthread.php?/forumdisplay.php? just can't handle the amount of requests it's getting at that particular time.
