Mark Kermode's Secrets of Cinema(5/5) : Horror

The concluding part of a wonderful series focussing on the horror genre and showcasing the techniques used to build up tension and scares by directors such as William Freidkin,Tobe Hooper and Alfred Hitchcock.A section near the end was particularly interesting, where Kermode dispelled the myth that all horror films are misogynistic by highlighting the final female avenger character from classics such as Halloween and Alien, then jumping to more recent efforts like The Babadook and It Follows.

The Real Marigold Hotel, series 3, episode 3
I was moved when they discussed Susan George's late husband, to recall he was of course Simon MacCorkindale, fine actor of yore.

Dollhouse, season 1, Episode 1 - "Ghost"

Had the complete series on Bluray for a while and had been meaning to rewatch it, as it was basically tied with Angel as my favourite thing Joss Whedon's ever done. First episode down, and I was right to do so. Some people didn't seem to get that the Dollhouse itself was supposed to be dodgy and somewhat sinister, with the implications of what they were doing, and even some people in the company questioning it, like Boyd, Echo's handler.

Speaking of Echo, I do remember the early episodes being absolutely slathered in fanservice. I mean fucking dripping with it. Like the dancing scene (It's a Joss Whedon show with Eliza Dushku in it, there's always one), where she's wearing a dress so short, it's technically a shirt. Love that, being more a leg man these days.

Eight Go Rallying: The Road to Saigon, part 1
Very entertaining, I do wonder whether No Ledmonds would have liked a crack at Nu Top Gear.
