Gutted but well done Swansea hope they do well in the Premeirship, we gave it a good go in the second half so I cant fault our lads, looks like Shane Long will be in the Premiership next season anyway

Manchester Utd midfielder, Paul Scholes has announced his retirement from football. He is going to take up a coaching role with the club.

Credit where credit's due, behind Ryan Giggs Paul Scholes is the best.... Second best player to ever play in the Premier League, although unlike Giggs Scholesy was a true model professional on & off the pitch... Well I say on the pitch, he couldn't tackle for shit!!!

Some may argue the likes of Zola, Henry etc etc but Scholes has played his whole career in the Premier League & that you can't argue.... Fact!!!

Personally, having been lucky enough to have seen his entire career watching-wise at Old Trafford at least, I'm glad he's bowing out now.

He's had a wonderful career, I think he stands as the second-most Championship-winning player of all-time, his contribution to which has been immesurable. His shooting in his prime was second only to his long-range pinpoint passing - I'd argue he's the best passer ever to have graced the Premiership - and to top it all he's a star footballer who genuinely hates the limelight, hence his shyness in front of the cameras and preference for privacy away from football.

I'd have hated him to have started to become an embarrassment to his former self ala Gary Neville, who really should have retired a couple of years ago, or to have played on in the lower leagues like Peter Beardsley and Ian Rush, both of whom became so brought down to the levels at which they finished so as to pose the question of fans: "didn't you used to be Ian Rush/Peter Beardsley etc?"

Whilst Saturday's result was not befitting of a player and person of Scholes' standing, the setting and occasion certainly were, and I wish him the very best in his retirement and with whatever he choses to do in the long-term.

BTW Mitchell, about that new tag-line of yours - that'll be nineteen more passes than the Mersey Muppets will have completed in the whole of their Champions League campaigns for both 2010/11 and 2011/12

A West Ham fan speaking to Sky Sports News is wondering why They've got Sam Allardyce as their new manager when "He's not won anything, why can't we get a manager thats won things, whats he ever won", seriously some fans think every team should be playing the Barca way & winning the league, West Ham have just been relegated for the second time in about 7 or 8 years & they're complaining about not having a manager who's won things.

Big Sam might not be everyones cup of tea but like Harry Radknapp he's got a track record at the bottom of the Premier League so there's not many managers who are more suited to the fight for promotion than him, or maybe as one fan said they should bring Alan Pardew back, after all he's won something for The Hammers... Promotion back to the Premier League, & what about Avram Grant's 9 league & cup wins in Israel

sam allardyce makes teams punch above their weight. i think big sam and west ham could be a perfect match.

a club with no or very little money to spend on players and they have a manager who wheels and deals, has managed to sign some excellent players when he was at bolton.

if fergie gets a third european cup he will retire.
