RE: Europe..IN or OUT??
^ We already have a points based immigration system for non EU nationals. Last year more non EU nationals entered the country as a result than EU nationals.

^ I missed that! Blush Labour introduced it in Feb 2008 I see. Thanks for the heads up.

Australia has more immigrants per head than the UK. (From The Guardian - yes again! Tongue - earler this month: "Australia’s net migration rate between 2000 and 2015 was just over eight per thousand – that is, on average each year, eight new people arrived in the country per thousand people already there, according to UN data collated by the think tank Open Europe. The UK’s net migration rate over the same period was just under four per thousand.")

So why would anyone expect anything more than controlled increase of who is coming, rather than a reduction in numbers, if it was introduced for EU nationals here?

667,000 people imagrated into the country last year alone, the population is now 65 million,

Isn't that 1 per 98 last year alone?

Guessing Cameroon should have taken a leaf out of her book then and not had a referendum that nobody asked for, that nobody particularly wanted and that he didn't have to have.

Thatcher probbaly would have banged their heads together.

RE: Europe..IN or OUT??
The point about a points based immigration system is that it's supposed to enable you to allow entry to those applicants who will fill specific roles for which there are skill shortages within the UK. So for example Doctors and nurses. For some entrants there are qualification criteria and even salary criteria - I've heard £30,000 per year mentioned in the past. There are also specific schemes such as for agricultural workers where for example fruit pickers come in for the season to do jobs that lazy Brits won't do!

Although there have been some contrary comments from EU countries the official line of the EU and the Council of Ministers eg Merkel & Hollande is that freedom of movement must be granted if you want access to the Single Market.

If they don't do this then they will have a stampede at their door so I very much doubt it will be watered down UNLESS there are EU wide changes to freedom of movement.

I also note Gove has said he will only activate Article 50 when he deems the country is ready.

So looks like an extended period of taxation without representation will follow. That's not quite what Brexit had in mind is it!?

I think they are using net figures (not the gross one you quote), for both countries, presumably averaged out over the whole 15 year period.

RE: Europe..IN or OUT??
What would be fun would be if all these other countries Brexit claimed would be delighted to have free trade deals with us said they wanted freedom of movement as part of them Bounce
