Too many people believe too much shit thats printed in the papers, i.e. Jeremy Clarkson having his way with Jemima Khan, do me a favour.

Tottenham are 1 or 2 players off being a side capable of challenging for a top 4 finish every season, if not competing in the title race for at least the first half of the season & with only the league to concentrate on next season they'll be looking to add to their squad not deplete it, their style of play attack wise isn't that different to Arsenal interms of result so they'll be confident of fighting for a top 4 place next season & quite possibly at the expense of their north London pals

I don't get the media hype about how attractive Spurs are myself tbh
The vast majority of their attacking play consists of:
a) Long diagonal balls to Crouch who knocks it down to Van der Vaart/Modric/Defoe or whoever
b) Giving the ball to Bale, who then runs like hell

Fair enough they were very entertaining in the CL and scored a load of goals, but they had to be to make up for their poor defending, although they have improved this in the 2nd half of the season. Unfortunately at the same time they've lost their attacking spark, resulting in many draws

I do agree though that there not far off being a consistently top 4 team as they already have one of the best squads in the league, of course it doesn't help that their best 4 players are injury prone (Bale, King, Modric, VdV)

*This post has nothing to do with me being a Chelsea fan and my distaste for Tottenham...kinda Wink

Their attack whatever style it is is effective over the course of the season & their poor defending will be eased with the signing of a decent defensive midfielder i.e. Scott Parker add a center half & maybe a goal scoring striker & couple this with no European football & they'll be a force next season & this is why I don't see the reason for some people thinking they're gonna lose all their so called best players.

Yeah I agree I reckon a few fringe players like Kranjcar will leave, but I can't see the likes of Bale etc. leaving

As for signings I think they only need to go all out for one 'big name star' striker. Like a Forlan or a Tevez. Maybe a new GK wouldn't hurt too.
You mention a defensive midfielder but I like the look of Sandro, and he's young too with Palacios for cover so they're safe there IMO as well as CB (I mean they got Dawson, Gallas, Kaboul, King, Bassong and Woodgate!)

king and woodgate injured all the time, bassong and kaboul are not the most reliable of defenders. they need a new gk has gomez way too inconsistant to help spurs push for top4, too many errors. cover at the back, a striker that scores goals, carlton cole, odemwinge (bargain buy of the season).

arsenal a defender to partner vermuelen, a ball winner in midfield, a goalscorer.

odemwinge will be the most rumoured striker being linked to very club in prem. west hams best players the same. the teams that do go down there are some good players in those sides which could be picked for bargain prices.

pls someone explain how avram grant is still manager of west ham?

it was just an opinion about bale leaving, if some club comes in who will guarantee him champs league football then i think he will want to go, and if its an obscene amount then spurs might want to sell. every1 has a price, torres 50 million, ronaldo 80 million! like you have said why would gerrard and reina want to leave liverpool, well im guessing they dont want to leave even thou they are not in the european cup, im sure there is still exciting times ahead at liverpool which they want to be a part of, so im sure they dont want to leave, where as spurs i dont think will be in the top 4 next season, like i posted earlier i THINK it will be chelsea, man city, liverpool and man utd.

have your own opinion, lead dont follow.

arsenal have been in the champions league 11 seasons in a row, 12 next year, writing them off for the champions league any year is foolish to say the least!Smile

Chuck Norris has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). the virus is now in quarantine for 14 days.

Well it's impossible really to predict nect season when this one ain't even over yet laugh
You never know what might happen in the summer with transers, managers, owners etc.

BUT let's just say I'm not buying into the whole 'Liverpool are back' vibe that's going on Blush
Yeah sure they've probably been the 3rd best team in 2011, but it's not like they've been competing in other comps or had any pressure to succeed or even live up to any expections since their season was pretty much declared a scratch by Feb
So right now I'm expecting this years Top 4 to do the biz again next season

Yeah like I said most of their top players are injury prone. But they're still on the wage bill nonetheless, not to mention the likes of Huddlestone and Corluka who can play CB

thats true that arsenal have been in the champs league 11 years in a row. since the premier league started man utd have always been in the top 3, so i cant see them not making the top 4 next season. chelsea and city, will probably carry on spending and i can see liverpool getting in the top 4 as well. i dont think im being foolish, im being as honest as i can and i think liverpool will take a top 4 spot off arsenal cos i cant see the other 3 dropping out of the top 4, but i can see liverpool getting in it! time will tell and come the end of next season terrence if arsenal make the top 4 i shall apologise for being wrong and i will show my arse in a woolies windowWink

HALLE-FUCKING-LUJAH Wink best post ive read in along while. Wink dissapointed malicious as gone over to the dark side, even though he did declare his Heart for me not so long ago Tongue

on the spurs players leaving debate, im hopin' modric will want to leave spurs because with the mersey mongs likely to be gettin' the europa spot they will have no european football and a couple of weeks ago SAF said he would of chose modric for PFA award so he's a fan and with scholes likely to retire at the end of the season he's a perfect replacement.

Congratulations Phoenix you've just taken over from malicious fan as my new Football Banter enemy!!!

"but it's not like they've been competing in other comps or had any pressure to succeed or even live up to any expections since their season was pretty much declared a scratch by Feb"

Errr, now I'm not gonna start goin on about league positions (I'll leave that to Master Yoda upon his return) as I've only started to take notice of it since we started to creep up on the dreaded 5th place but to say we've not had any pressure to succeed is just about the biggest miss guided quote of the decade,

Liverpool Football Club are (For the next 2 days) the most successful club in England & every season are expected by most to challenge for the title, This I don't understand as we've not won a league title for 21 years & have never won or even challenged for the Premier League yet every season when as you say "their season was pretty much declared a scratch by Feb" which seems to happen almost every season but still people are shocked when we don't get a European Cup place & even tools like Graeme Souness come out with, 'Oh it's gonna take 10 years to turn this team round' yeah try 4 months with all but 4 of the same squad, the reason for statments like this is because Liverpool are under immense pressure to 'get back to the glory days' but most don't realise or just want to ignore the fact that the Premier League is now the most difficult league in world football to compete in & has a history of having only 2 teams challenge for the winners spot i.e. Arsenal taking over from Chelsea in 2011 only for the roll to switch again in the past month or 2, put us in the top 4 next season & that brings even more pressure on us than we already have, I could go on & on with this post but it's already past 01:30am & I wanna go to bed.

I'm not saying your a glory fan of the Roman Abramovic era but all your most notable success has come since his mi££ions started to be spent & this may have... Has gone to the heads of 'some' Chelsea fans & this is the reason for talk like this, the same can/will be said of the Oasis mob, If it wasn't for all the money they'd be in the same boat as Everton & the tw@t Garry Fuck wouldn't be looking so smug, Kaka "Bottled it", oh please!!!

City don't play great football & may struggle to some extent next season as no doubt they'll make 3+ new signings & once again players like Kaka will be brought in with a possibility of no thought of a steady or workable team, If Tottenham didn't feel sorry for themselves after getting spanked by Real & we didn't draw with Wigan & get beat at West Ham then I'm pretty sure it would've been Tottenham or Liverpool who got 4th place, next season will be an absolute cracker & personally I think it'll be the first time the Premier League has been contended by more than 2 teams over the course of the whole season.
