RE: *Official Football Thread*
Well looks like it`s a quiet afternoon for me with City`s game at Pompey called of at just before 10.30 this morning. Feel for the City fans making the journey down there as they would have to turn back being probably half way there.

As for the footballing side it is IMO a good thing as we are without Wright-Philips,Ireland,Robinho doubtful together with long term absentees` Petrov,Johnson and Bojinov. An enforced little midseason break may do the players good as City`s competative season started way back on 17th July.
In this modern age do you think that with all the money swishing about in Premiership football that all clubs in the top flight should be capable of fulfilling all scheduled fixtures with some form of undersoil heating which relative outlay is small compared to transfer fees/salaries to players ?

As I write this post Fulhams` game with Blackburn has only just been called off [1.30 PM]. Most of Rovers fans would have almost arrived in London for this fixture - how must they be feeling having shelled out hard earned money only to be told sorry the games off ?

Its costs about £300, 000 to get under pitch heating.

Undersoil heating, pah. pansies

It should be like it was in my school many years ago. If the grass pitch is unplayable play it on the gravel pitch.

If 300 grand is correct this about 3 weeks wages for a top Prem player.

Fulham and Pompey should be made to pay all traveling expenses to ticketholders of away fans that made fruitless journeys

When you consider the fact that 300k is only a fraction of the lost revenue from an abandoned match in the Premier League, you'd think it would be the first thing a side does once they establish themselves in the top flight. I can only think they're insured for any losses they make so stuff the fans.
