As an Arsenal fan there is that looming fear in the back of my mind that Arteta is the sucessor to Pep, if that were to happen I would want us to go for Iraola.


Being a student of Pep certainly is the best education right now: one is the only person who can currently challenge him for the title, last two seasons the championship has been won by one of his students, last years La Liga won by Xavi & Luis Enrique was manager of Barca B will Pep was at Barca & has won both La Liga, Ligue 1 and the Champions League

In the debate of greatest manager of all time compare that to Ferguson's student/lieutenants: Carlos Quieroz, McLaren, Bruce, Hughes, Neville, Rooney. Keane won the championship & Strachan did well at Celtic to be fair

^ And Xabi Alonso (played under Pep at Bayern) won the German Double in his first full season as a senior manager/coach.

McLaren won the Eredivisie with FC Twente and the League Cup with Middlesboro, not insignificant achievements given the clubs involved.

Nah i reckon if it comes down to a straight arsenal to man city Arteta has always shown his love of Arsenal above city

now if you were to have a bad season and the AFTV mob start with arteta out that might change

Probably a separate thread debate, but I'd also nominate a Mr B Clough (Martin O'Neill etc)
