yeah true, DVD's of PPV's would be for over 18s and i weren't allowed to buy any of them back in the late 90s and early 2000s, i also think in america the average age of wrestling fans are older than over here, but i do think there are a lot of closet wrestling fans, we just talk about it on here and not in real life, but in general wrestling is not popular amongst older people i have never talked to a 40-50 year old about wrestling at work, wrestling was not televised over here when they were kids

Yes it was, Wrestling was on UK TV Back in 1955 (British Wrestling) & It was a huge deal as well.

Also, you are right about the "Closet Wrestling fan" thing. I'm the opposite of that though, I'm very open about being a wrestling fan & Have spoken to Charlene (RLC) on Twitter about WWE several times Big Grin

Why do you keep saying that fandango is my favourite wrestler? I think you are confused, all i said about him he (johnny curtis) is a very good wrestler with lots of potential, hense why jericho put him over at wrestlemania, if the Wwe creative team put some effort in with writing then they could do a lot with him and many others, but instead all they do is try and think of new ways to shove cena in peoples faces and new ways to try and get him over.

As for Cenas mic work i disagree with you, it's so forced and over the top it's not convincing, he sounds like a programmed robot.

I seen that on Raw to the crowd were all booing him then they adjusted the volume levels to drown out the boo's. It would be much better without him all round.

like it or not WWE is aimed at kids, when the rock, HHH, stone cold, taker, HBK, foley, kane etc were in their prime you were a kid, i am a similar age to you so back then i thought everything was great as well and never got bored or complained if a rivalry went on for to long or thought any wrestler was shit cos i was a kid and wwe always entertained me, i remember wrestling with my mates at break time at school, doing moves like the stunner, rock bottom, chokeslam, pedigree etc, then most of my mates grew out of it and stopped watching it, but i carried on watching it, in the real world nobody knows i watch wrestling except my brother but i don't talk to him about wrestling much as he stopped watching it a few years ago when he was like 17

I know what you are saying but I disagree with you, I know loads of people our age who watch wrestling and go to events, and I know that in USA and South America wrestling is very popular with all ages.

But I disagree with what you are saying about it being aimed at kids, for example a few years ago the wwe divas used to basically strip naked, or that thing where lita and Edge had "sex" in the ring, or when undertaker hung Bossman or Undertaker doing that ceremony on mideon where he slit his wrists... That wasn't aimed at kids, it was to keep older fans interested, there was something for everybody and most people like me back then liked guys like stone cold/rock/jericho who said what they wanted on the mic and it was like it was from their hart.

But now since the PG has come in I would say it is aimed too much for younger fans under the age of 10 the way they cant show blood, Half of every storyline is about dancing fueds... The promo's apart from dean ambrose or bray wyatt all suck, they sound rehearsed to death and like they are reading it straight from a book.

They need to stop neglecting the older fans and bring the company together instead of focusing on 2/3 guys and make an effort to make use of all the other wrestlers instead of using them as jobbers. Another example that WWE hasnt always been aimed at kids like today.. I remember all the playboy matches too and they had a "Divas gone wild PPV" where they had Stacey Kiebler hosting with Coach and they were paying girls to get their tits out ect and having wet t shirt competitions. This was for Adults, they would not do it now, but back then they would for the Older viewers.

Vince doesn't care about making it entertaining now, its all about money for him, the worst thing to happen to WWE was when Vince bought WCW as that took away all the competition and he got comfortable. If a rich owner was to Buy TNA and put money into it and get writers like heyman on board they would be a lot better than WWE if they could get guys like Punk, Bryan, sandow, Ziggler, Rollins, Reigns, Johnny Curtis to follow and join.

There is nothing wrong with being a wrestling fan, i dont worry about it and there are loads of celebrities who are big wrestling fans too. it's only the WWE making a lot of the older guys and girls who were fans question their credibility admitting to watching WWE at the moment because of the way it is being presented and written..

How old are you? 10? I bet u eat fruity pebbles for breakfast and have a john cena poster above your bed....

The cheeky Girls are singers, that doesnt mean they will be good at mic promos does it...

Sorry i must have missed every single one of cenas songs if he was a rapper. Have you heard his theme song? You think that rapping is good? 2pac was a rapper, Cena isn't...

Cena is just a corporate suckup, stale, kiss ass, who shops for clothes at mothercare. Wearing a padlock on your kneck calling yourself Dr of Thuganomics and wearing 6 armbands doesnt make you a rapper... It makes u look like a dick unless you are under the age of 10... Cena looks like a guy having a midlife crisis, not a rapper..

RE: The Official WWE Discussion Thread
this is a long post so it may get boring beware

i remember the divas bikini contests and one of my favorites was Torrie Wilson cos she was hot as fuck, but she was a shit wrestler, but i never moaned saying she shouldn't be in WWE cos i was a hormonal teenager and and i couldn't give a fuck about her wrestling skills, stacey kiebler and dawn marie were shit wrestlers too but i was just happy to see them do bikini contests, part of the reason the divas get slated now is because they aren't allowed to do bikini contests, obviously trish and lita were the best divas wrestlers but some of the others back then were in WWE just as models who stripped off, lets not forget that

im pretty sure there were jobbers back in the attitude era, remember kai en tai, but i thought it was funny when they lost every week, hell in a cell matches are shit now, fake blood is banned and promos are corny, but even though things were better in those days it also seemed better cos we were kids and we didn't go moaning on forums, but the reality is wrestling has become cautious, tame and predictable just like the babeshows have, all we have now is memories but we still continue to watch WWE and the babeshows even though they have changed for the worse over the years

the world is too soft now with all this stupid rules in place, i feel sorry for the kids of today but who knows they might enjoy watching WWE cos they are kids just like we were at one time, perhaps an 18 year old is no longer a cena fan, 8 years ago he probably was a cena fan, but i wonder if i would have liked stone cold, rock, HHH, kane and undertaker as much if i was 27 years old back in 1998 instead of being 11-12, i doubt i would have watched wrestling all the time if i first discovered WWF at 27

A lot of what u are saying makes sense, yea there were jobbers and we were teenagers, but like you said the divas were there to strip off in all sorts of fun ways that kept all the male viewers happy and draw in new viewers.

I agree with You about what u said that now if u had just found wwe you would not probably choose to watch it, but if for example the divas were all still stripping ect with girls like stacy and torrie ect I bet that you would watch it even if it was just for that. I would anyway.

And you say that the kids might enjoy watching wwe for cena but thats only because he is the only wrestler really being forced on kids to like. I don't rate cena at all, I dont even class him as a wrestler, he's a body builder and vince mcmahons golden boy, like teachers pet at school ass kissing at every moment, he can do a couple of basic moves but any 1 of the jobbers on the roster could do any of cenas moves, hense why the wwe feel the need to give him super powers to make up for the lack of raw talent he has.

As a kid i see wrestlers like the rock, jericho, Sean michaels, Stone Cold, Nwo, DX, Matches with Blood, Hardcore championships, Playboy matches ect and found it very entertaining back then and still would now and I bet if you showed kids Raw is War from the attitude era they would prefer that over todays rubbish.

The only reason WWE is not able to show things like that anymore is because of the PG guidelines they put on THEMSELVES because of Linda McMahons political run, they didnt want to risk offending the public in any way with a risky product in WWE..

The company has lost its soul and identity now, this showed on monday when hhh said to batista "you cant do things like that now, this is a public traded company"

Thats not what anybody watching wwe wants to see, not even kids, they dont want to hear about hhhs buisness plans, they want to see hhh and guys being put through tables ect..

The whole product is horrible now...

i have seen several pics of her with Michael Cole and JBL i figured she is a wrestling fan Big Grin

when i first watched the WWE i was around 9 y.o
but the stuff that Austin was doing with Vince and the great feud between them
got a lot of older people to like the WWE as an employee was torturing his asshole boss
many people wished that they could do the same with there bosses
i remember my father used to watch wrestling with me and i can tell he used to enjoy it
because WWE was that damn good the Attitude Era is absolutely the best era in wrestling
i think i would have enjoyed it if i was 26 y.o like now but not the stuff they are doing now Sad
and i still love Austin and the Rock Big Grin
