Slow boards help!!!... check here

The forum is just about the slowest I've ever known - currently 1,461 online.

Here we go again.

Every time we get over 1000 people online, the forum starts running at a snail's pace.

I think I'm going to avoid coming on here between 22:00 - 02:00. As it's almost impossible to navigate anywhere, without having to wait several minutes before you get a connection.

Sorry if this has been answered, but is anyone actually looking at the problems with this board. It gets slower ever day!! Honestly, it takes about two mintues to make a simple post at the moment.

I normally login when viewing the forum but stayed as a guest when checking it last night around 11.40pm for about 10 minutes. It did not seem to be very slow then.

I'm logged in again now, and it has been quite slow for the last hour, which is unusual for this time of day.

It seems to be a regular night time thing for me - from late evening until early morning (around 1.30am-ish) the forum is really slow and sluggish.....then levels out and is fine again after that

Sounds like my sex life..

Along with the forum being painfully slow, I get this every time I make a post in the chatbox (after it's taken a while to show up)

Sorry, admin, but it's becoming slightly farcical now. I can't say I've had any errors appear on the main forum today, but god is it super slow. The chatbox is the same too (see Sooky's post above). Noooooo, this place is grinding to a hault.

I'm trying some different settings in order to try and increase performance, but also looking at a longer term solution too.

Would limiting what guests could see help?
