Yes, a pity, but Selby should have won a HN one before now, and another final for Gilbert has to be good for his bank balance/ranking points. Is getting crushed 9-1 better or worse than being 3 up with 4 to play and losing to Mark Williams, as he did last season.

If 128 enter and 126 go home before you, how much of a loser are you really?

Ding Junhui, the sort of guy who needs to win one of these to make the sort of progress seen by Allen/Trump/Robertson lately, got KO'd in round 1.

Mark Allen is out beaten 4-3 by Alexander Ursenbacher.
O'Sullivan along with Murphy, Trump and Perry through to the last eight on a day where players played 2 matches in one day.

Higgins led Trump 3-2, but Judd powered through to win 6-3, including a banana shot on a black which Jimmy White and others raved about.

Ronnie crushed Joe Perry 6-1 this evening.
