Depends on your idea of what is a reasonable price is, villa did not have to sell just because the buy out clause was activated, they could have refused to let Benteke leave but instead took the money. When Arsenal triggered the buy out clause in Luis Suarez,s contract Liverpool simply said no.

Your claims are incorrect. Aston Villa DID HAVE TO SELL when Benteke's buyout clause was activated because the player himself wanted the move. Aston Villa could not have refused to let him leave, as it would have been breach of contract.

Liverpool may have said no when Luis Suarez's buyout clause was activated, but Suarez chose not to force the issue. He had previously spoken of leaving England, so presumably a move to Arsenal just didn't appeal to him enough to make it happen.
