6 of those came from team sky 3 from the Cav, 1 from next years winner froome and 2 from soon to be Sir Wiggo. the finish today was fantastic but fridays sprint was even better when cav from 500-600m to finish line flew past the 2 leaders. cant wait for next saturday for the olympic road race.

watched it this afternoon and was a brilliant double win for the brits wiggins and cavendish. couldnt resist going awww afterwards when mark cavendish ignored the itv interviewer and instead went to pick up his baby daughter and did the interview whilst holding her

I only hope the guy who finished second doesn't get forgotten as in any other circumstances that would have been an equally astounding result.

Without Chris Froome's help in the mountains it would have been harder for Brad Wiggings to win so easily. If he keeps going as he is Froome could win next year's race and Cav the green Jersey again.Big Grin

RE: Tour de France
guessing will find out in october when the new route of the tour will be released sure if there are more mountain stages and less time trials then they will all work for froome

Interesting on Cav Team sky have announced if he wishes to leave to lead in another team then they wouldnt stand in his way im sure again nothing will be decided till the new route will be announced might be that there are a lot more oppurtunties for sprints.

Lancet Armstrong's 7 Tour de France victories have been obliterated by the decision not to contest the doping charges against him.World Anti-Doping Agency interpretated that his refusal to fight on means the allegations have substance.Very sad.

Has it been confirmed yet that the titles have been stripped ? I heard that they "should" be erased but nothing confirmed as yet. But then I might be behind on the news.

If he has cheated then he is an arse and deserves to be stripped of the 7 TdF wins.

RE: Tour de France
the uci have said they would erase his results, from what i've heard Lance was under the impression the USADA didn't have this authority so this may change things.
personally i think its likely he did use peds but, drugs were deeply embedding in cycling at that time and literally everyone else was aswell and Lance still came out on top. They would be better off drawing a line under it and ensuring that the sport is clean now.

edit: got this a bit mixed up, the world anti doping agency says his title should be erased. the international cycling union (UCI) says they will wait to take action until they know more. although they previously supported Armstrong against USADA

i agree with you to a certain extent but what about the clean riders of that era. i'm sure a few of them thought at the time 'stay clean and the corruption will come out', it probably took longer than the thought but to draw a line under it would be a smack in the face to them.

RE: Tour de France
It's almost impossible to ensure any sport is clean. Even Lord Coe said the same at the Olympics. All the time the drug testing is getting better the harder it'll be for athlete's, however they will always be keeping one step ahead.

There was many member's of his team willing to step forwards and testify against him. By the sounds of it he knew his time was up. If you don't punish the drug cheats then they'll continue to do it. Hit them where it hurts, hit Armstrong where it hurts, strip him of his "achievements" he doesn't deserve them anyway.
