I wouldn't disagree with that - there shouldn't be bricks through windows etc and all the rest you describe, on any side.

Indeed, it's becoming increasingly difficult to see how there can be any other outcome.

They presumably think it worked first time round between 1979 - 1997 with the SDP etc.
If they're numerologists maybe they're planning to keep themselves out of power from 2016 - 2061 ?
(The country might just be about ready to go back into the EU by then ?)

I don't see this ending in anything but a split in the Labour Party and a breakaway party being formed unless Corbyn loses the election (which I don't think he will)

^I wonder what this prospective breakaway party could be named.
New Labour perhaps- Oh wait that's already been done.
How about the New,New Labour Party, this should be enough to differentiate it from any other variations of the Labour parties which have gone before.Big Grin

Labour to split before the next general election. Latest odds.

Yes 7/4
No 2/5

RE: Labour Leadership Contest
Maybe a split wouldn't be such a bad thing.
At a time when the tories have been in complete disarray, instead of taking advantage of that, these MP's have chosen this time to battle amongst themselves. Like him or not, Corbyn was elected leader of the party by a significant majority, under the voting rules bought in by the previous administration.
These MP's can neither accept the decision of their own party, nor can they understand WHY it came to that decision, namely because they have completely alienated themselves from their own membership, and also the wider electorate. Instead of infighting, they need to try to re-establish the links they once had with the membership, and within the communities etc and maybe they can become a credible opposition again.
If this Eagle woman is the best they can come up with as an opponent to Corbyn it really doesn't bode well for them, let them go, and lets see how many of them survive the next election without the security and support of the Labour Party behind them.

No, that's what his opponents want. His supporters want to be allowed to represent the people who overwhelmingly voted for them rather than the other 3 candidates.

If they can hang on until the party conference in September, then there'll be wholesale changes anyway.

This whole 25£ thing is a plan to get money into the coffers in case there is a split. because they know that the PLP will get all the funding that Political partys will get because of its the majority of the Labour mps will go to any new party

Taking advantage of that? Isn't that the whole point, that Labour under Corbyn should be taking advantage of that, but isn't?

Since Labour under Corbyn isn't making the impact it should be, surely the MPs are wise to try and get more effective leadership?
