central contracts in cricket have ruined it by creating an old boys club. players dont get dropped if the teams and they are out of form (not taking wickets or scoring runs). kp, strauss, cook, bell etc should have been dropped when they lost form and return to county cricket to find their form. the days when bowlers bowled over a 1,000 overs like truman did are gone. also players on central contracts dont play for their registered county side. like football cricket has lost is soul, in the 90's i could go to northants v surrey (when england was not playing) and watch alec stewart play, you dont see that now.

if brailsford took over the england football team, the whole squad be dropped and not selected again. selection would be made on form not reputation. hoy nearly did not make it to bejing 2008. brailsford goal was to get gb cycling to be the most dominant team in the world at the olympics and on the road thats why the france dont like it because brailsford does not target world cups or world champs he works on olympic cycles like the rowing but after the olympics he says his goal is get more people into cycling whether its track cycling or road cycling. the team for sky in the Vuelta a Espana is very strong, Froome, Ben Swift and Ian Stannard, Juan Antonio Flecha, Sergio Henao, Danny Pate, Richie Porte, Rigoberto Uran and Xabier Zandio. swift and stannard will be at the next olympics in the road team.
