RE: Tennis Discussion Thread
A one sided women's final, very disappointing as a contest. Perhaps Keys was hampered by the quad injury she picked up before / during her semi-final against Vandeweghe.

Stephens was finding the lines though with nearly every return. That second set was an exercise in how to return and massacre a powerful serve. Keys is known for being the biggest hitter on the women's tour, apart from Serena. Well that makes Sloane Stephens' achievement even greater. The lowest ranked women's US Open finalist ever aswell. Outstanding performance. I mean totally crap from a personal point of view - Key's defeat cost me a fiver. But who cares about my winnings / losses right? annoyed Wink

Great win for Jamie Murray and Martina Hingis too, backing up the Wimbledon mixed doubles title with the Flushing Meadows equivalent.

Hopefully the men's final tomorrow between Nadal and Anderson can still be competitive. I'm looking for at least four sets, and I reckon the crowd would want that aswell. Anderson to sneak the first on a tiebreak and Nadal to up the level thereafter seems a good betting tip.

Well it was competitive in terms of the number of points played. However, a glance at the scoreline still shows a straight set victory for Nadal who has looked unstoppable during this fortnight, and indeed for many parts of this year.

Credit to both Rafael Nadal and Kevin Anderson, they have both shown that injuries in the sport can be overcome and with the right work and preparation, majors can be challenged for.

I'm sure that all the players missing from this slam due to injury will take that attitude on board and be back challenging again for majors in 2018.

I snatched a few minutes of Muguruza Vs Puig, two very attractive and sexy looking women, and thought how rarely you can apply those words when watching a WTA match. Considering you have two fit young women wearing very little, why are some many of the players so nondescript. Compare that to female skiers who have disproportionate amount attractive and sexy women.

Caroline Wozniacki beat Venus Williams in the big tournament thing that's been on this week, and Roger Federer won the men's version, I think.

Nope, Fed won a different thing that week.

Dimitrov beat Goffin to win the men's version this week, though Cool
