At the point when Van Persie was sent off, it was 1-1, 11v11 and we were still in with a chance of progressing to the next round. Until the fucking referee steps in and sends van persie off for a riduculous decisions. That decision changed it all in favour of barcelona. Thanks referee, you fucking asshole. Cost us big time.
It's happened a lot these past couple of weeks; it's just that when it happens against United everyone takes the ABU road, so I'm delighted to see others' suffering as well - these Arse fans sure don't like it so much when it's up 'em do they?

The non-sending off of Rooney at Wigan was followed by the non-sending off of David Luiz, the non-sending off of Allan Hutton at Wolves last Sunday, the non-sending off of Jamie Carragher, Maxi Rodriguez and Rafael at Anfield, and the probably unjust sending-off of Van Persie tonight, although I'm not sure what his lack of hearing had to do with the fact that he almost certainly saw the linesman's yellow flag go up and his subsequent effort on goal was pretty lacklustre given he could have gone on to score what would have been a crucial goal. Anyone who buys the I didn't know I was off-side bullshit really does need to think again and stop hiding behind cheap excuses.

Like I said above; furthermore, I seldom enjoy Champions League matches and have felt this way for maybe ten years now, as the referees not only play by different rules regards rendering the game to be almost non-contact, but don't you just get the impression that they're all bent in favour of the foreign clubs?

lindor, players do what van persie did all the time. also the game is played differently in every country, in england is alot more physical than the others, therefore the refs from the premier league adjust their style to suit the champions league so you get different decisions being made.

aresen wenger cocked up by sending on bendtner instead of chamakh.

I know players do what Van Persie did all the time, but they really should be more careful in European matches. Michel Platini is a renowned Anglo-phobe who will stop at little to ensure English clubs don't repeat their recent record of dominating the Champions League semi-finals, and I remain convinced that referees are, shall we say, encouraged to go out and told that it would be a good result if the continental European team prevailed. How else does one explain Chelsea's exit to Barcelona in the 2008/9 semi-final at the hands of the Norwegian official?

The fact that the game is so less physical on the continent is a constant source of frustration to me; it's akin to playing pool to qualify for the World Snooker Championships or Rugby League to qualify for a Rugby Union competition.

Van Persie knew that he was off-side last night and if Arsenal fans are honest to themselves then they'll acknowledge this fact. Think about it - he was pretty much clean through to score what would have been an absolutely crucial goal at that point and yet his poor finish was unbecoming of a player of his undoubted talent - he knew he was off-side, else he'd have at least made the keeper work!

This does not of course mean that the referee should have sent him off; he failed to apply the law of common sense, but the fact is that Van Persie gave the referee the opportunity to send him off and put himself in Platini's good books.

RE: Football Banter
All you Arsenal fans who thought that Robin van Persie's sending-off against Barcelona was harsh, should feel for a thought for Dorchester player-manager Ashley Vickers.

During Dorcester's away match to Havant and Waterlooville, a man dressed in an ill-fitting Borat-style mankini and sporting a curly black wig ran on to the pitch.

Vickers got feed up with the stewards not being able to catch the intruder so took matters into his own hands and tackled the man near the centre circle.

But for his efforts Vickers was shown a red card for violent conduct by the muppet referee.

charlemagne becareful with your wording.

just read a news piece on the bbc website about a man utd being cautioned by the police for slogan on her car which read "on the first day God created Utd and then completely fucked up and created City".

God already fucked up by creating FIFA and UFEA.

lindor, what do you expect when platini is french and we "english" had to save their ass twice against the germans. i agree with you about ufea and fifa influencing the refs. the english domination of the champions league is been in the last few years, before that spain or italy dominate the european cup/champions league, platini is only jealous because richard scudemore(sorry if his is misspelt) can sell the premier league to normads in timbuktu.

i still cant believe that arsenal failed to get a shot on target last night.

ps
lindor foxy night show tomorrow night

vickers red card might get quashed by the fa, even the assesor for the ref could not understand why vickers got a red card. havant and waterloo ville have been charge with crowd misconduct.

i think its the 1st time in footbal where both teams did not want a player to be sent off.

well done to spurs. spurs were below par compared to their other euro games. the ref had a good game. sandro was been brilliant over the 2 legs and looks like he is going to be a good player for spurs.
