7.7 I think I've worked out the reason for the missing heat - given they did a celebrity special in Whitstable the same year.
Anyway, the final is in the spooky gardens at Levens Hall, and there were environmental-themed commissions to boot. I'd have picked a different winner, but there it is.

7.8 The winner actually came from the opening show, and her submission was probably the most exciting painting she did all series. Notably, the commission was kept vague through the series, and led the young lady to take a ride on the restored Rochdale canal, so SA could get in belatedly on the canal bandwagon. This series' painter to mention was Adolphe Vallette, whose style was eerily similar to the winner, unlike his most famous pupil, LS Lowry. Anyway, after many vignettes about social history, the finished painting was well received, and did include her "signature" use of fire, a good trick in a picture about a canal.

7.9 A "best bits" compilation, which seems a bit superfluous, though maybe it shows how the winner progressed when other artists were better (arguably).
