It seems, rooneys big ego is struggling not being the no1 star at man utd, it seems since the arrival of robin van persie, and that fact he has been dropped, for a few games, his huge big head is not used to this, so he has spat his dummy out, its pathetic.

One way or the other it needs to be resolved quickly. Don't want it festering all over the summer. Rooney made a rod for his back in 2010 and many United fans have not really forgiven him for that so they are quick to turn on him this time round. No fan at any club welcomes players no longer committed to their cause.

Unfortunately, that will be unacceptable. Moyes is a top bloke but Fergie is such a hard act to follow nobody might ever come close to repeating what he achieved. The managers job at Old Trafford could become as much of a poisoned chalice as the England manager's job.

Next season he will be given a bit of slack, and if Mourinho returns to Chelsea and Man City get their act together he might be forgiven if he finishes 3rd but at the very least he will have to have a good Cup/Champions League run. If he hasn't won the title or the Champions League in his 2nd season the knives will be out.

ps - it would be interesting to see what odds the bookies would offer on Man Utd being relegated within five years...and before you laugh too hard don't forget that that's what happened after Matt Busby retired!

I think like you say, as long as we stay top 3 the first season, Moyes will be okay. The 2nd season and no league title and the pressure will really be on.

I don't think he'll last more then 3 seasons if he doesn't win the league or more unlikely win the CL. Utd fans have been spoiled with success and 3 years with no title will seem like an eternity. Fergie recently went 3 years without the league, but everyone knew what he was capable of, but Moyes is unproven, and 3 seasons with no league would seem like he's not up to the job.

RE: Manchester United FC
I'll be honest, unless Arsenal shock the shit out of everyone and spend big on top class players who make an immediate impact, unlikely I know, then Moyes may get a title almost by default in his first season. Chelsea are, foolishly to my mind, getting rid of the best man for the job in order to bring someone back for sentimentality's sake (Which never works - Just ask Howard Kendall or John Toshack), and City are getting rid of Mancini to bring in a man who's going to need a season to bed in. Of the three genuine contenders only one has a manager who is completely up to date with the current state of the Premier League.

After the first season things may be a little different. Once Pellegrini settles in, assuming it's actually him who City sign, City will be VERY hard to stop. I've heard people questioning Pellegrini's ability; those people are idiots. Give the man a budget and three years and trophies will fall into City's lap like nobody's business. Chelsea will still be lurking around of course and Mourinho will get them playing above themselves. Luckily for Jose, at least he won't have to risk burning himself by lifting his own coffee; JT will swoop in and lift the cup on his behalf.

All Moyes has to do in season one is not fuck up too badly and things will most likely work out to his advantage.

Credit to West Brom for playing with a never say die attitude. United were comfortable until Scholes came on which upset the balance. A truly great player but sentimentality has no place in the professional game. Entertaining game though. Hope Sir Alex goes on to enjoy his retirement now

Chelsea will be a threat for the title next season, especially if they get Mourinho. Benitez, has done a decent job but he's seems more of a good cup manager then someone who'll win you a league title. Will be the same usual suspects going for the league and Arsenal and Spurs chasing after 4th place.

L'Equipe reporting that PSG are in direct contact with Rooney about a £40 million transfer.

Also United have confirmed that Rio has signed for a further year.

United's first few games:

17/8 Swansea away
24/8 Chelsea home
31/8 Liverpool away
14/9 Palace home
21/9 Man City away

Apparently we are favourites to sign Thiago Alacantara from Barca for £15 million. Hope so looks a good player, scoring a hat-trick for Spain u21 v Italy in yesterdays Euro championship final
