iphone/ipod touch questions

Hey guys, i'm looking for some help(again).
I'm thinking about buying an iphone or an ipod touch and was wondering if anyone who has one could help me out with a few things?

Firstly how does the internet work? I know it's wi-fi but what about when you're out of range, does it have gprs internet? If it does have gprs internet how much does it cost? and are there data limits?

Secondly how does this forum work on the iphone/touch? Can you upload/download pictures/videos? Does the chat work?

There's no gprs
Chat is the same
And u cant upload pics r vids
but u can save pics by pressing the image and using the save option

to be honest, using the chat from this forum on the iphone is a nightmare, but better than most phones.

My advice is get the iPhone! There's nothing else out there that compares to it especially use of the web. It's 3G edge technology I think. Quickest out there plus the browser is the best mobile browser out there, quick and reliable. The new copy & paste features sick as well

If your thinking about getting a ipod touch don't get one as i know there releasing a newer sometime in october as for the iphone if really wanna get one then get the iphone s model as apple have keep releasing newer models of the iphone and next update for it won't be till july of next year .

Does anyone know how I could get a new iPhone 3gs without a contract?
I saw some on eBay but there all round 700-1000 each
