I don't like my musicians with a backward baseball cap, a hoodie, or even a sideways finger Desert Eagle, or even a guitar - electric or acoustic.
I don't want a lead singer to idolise, I don't need a too-cool-for-school bassist or an exploding drummer, all I need is a DJ and a waft of Balearic and I'm an 'appy bunny.
I risk sounding old, well that's okay, but I like Progressive House. I always did fall into the 'raver' class rather than'rocker' back in my younger years and was the one who, while my peers were listening to indie & grunge and then Britpop (and then nothing because Oasis fucked it all up for British guitar band fans har har

), was listening to Joey Beltram, Orbital, the Prodigy when they were cool and then increasingly trancey stuff.
After me and Sasha parted ways a decade ago I sort of declared dance music as I knew it dead. Well, I sort of rediscovered the progressive and trance scene this year, still alive and kicking and - to my amazement - not full of shite but actually with a load of good, cool inventive stuff out there (plus the ton of complete vapid crap which every genre of everything must have as filler), and I'm now a massive fan of DJs like Hernan Cattaneo, Fernando Ferreyra, N-Tchbl and others. Frisky Radio & Fernando's 'Dreeamers' mixes supply plenty of sweet ear candy, but for me it's Hernan's 'Resident' sets are the most avant-garde and eclectic of the lot. The guy's like an electronica John Peel (but without the links & hangdog charisma); I think 'Resident 200' is about the best thing I've heard this year, in any genre of music. Full stop.
Anyway, thanks for reading; if you're a prog fan, shout cos I don't think there are really that many of us! If you're not and I made you look up any of this stuff then, enjoy.
