i am with sky and it is worse than dial up speed. its took 20 minutes to load a minute on youtube. can anyone reccomend a broadband provider that isnt shit?
I'm sure you'll get a number of responses recommending different ISP's. Think Broadband is a useful site to look at. It has a compare ISP function which can be useful - it allows you to see how a number of the major ISPs are rated by their customers on Speed, Customer Service & Reliability.

For example, Here's a comparison of six ISPs including Sky.
the comparison pretty much says sky is good. i have it and it is garbage. my dreamcast had a faster speed.

i had sky broadband before and i got 15Mbps perfectly fine, if you had crap speed, its probably to do with the exchange, so no matter what one you go for, you won't get a faster speed.
Have you tested your speed? What download speed do you get with this? http://www.speedtest.net/

You could have a fault with your telephone line. You can test this by doing a 'Quiet Line Test'. Here's some info from your ISP on this. Note that you need an analogue phone to do this. http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-broad...-test.html
i get a fast speed at around midnight till during the day when it just dies. its like it refreshes at 12

i know sky routers tend to renew the leases at that time, so it in essence renews its connection, and no1 in your area will be using the net much at that time of the night, then from 8-9am traffic thru the exchange gets busier and screws the connection. its a worse effect on a crap exchange, we noticed a HUGE difference from when we moved in then 6 months later the exchange got upgraded, the speed went from about 2Mbps to 15Mbps.
Have a look in the Sky forum on Think Broadband here. http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/sky.html

There are threads about throttling and daily usage caps - techniques that the major ISPs employ to cope with the high traffic in an evening, which is what it sounds like you're experiencing.
