Hi I need help with setting up a remote desktop. I have windows vista business and was told that if my computer is left on at home, I can access at from a library or office. My computer came with Windows XP (I have XP instructions but they are useless as i'm using Vista now) with a vista upgrade disc in a wallet, there is no instructions. What i'm asking is how do I set this up and how would I access my computer in remote desktop? A step by step tutorial or something would be helpful, screenshots would also be helpful.
I use Logmein to play with my PC when away from my PC. Alas I haven't been able to access my PC via my Nokia 5800 yet but had no issues when using PCs.
Forget remote desktop. It isn't all that reliable even across a local network, let alone insecure. It wasn't design really for anything other than LAN access. Besides, most of the setup is done on the PC you're connecting from and I'm guess a library won't let you start installing Windows components, even if your office will Rolleyes

Personally I have a preference for GoToMyPC, but then I would as I'm used to using it's bigger brother GoToAssist.

If you just want access to files rather than needing full access to the machine itself consider a file host or using online apps instead as it puts security less at risk

Seems all a little to much of an effort really. Thanks anyway.
