Happy birthday Captain!
Oddly enough, I've just started rewatching the original series, and there's more humour in it than I'd remembered.
Spock even cracks a joke in the episode where an intoxicated Sulu runs amok on the bridge with a sword. After neutralising him with a Vulcan neck pinch, he quips "Somebody get D'artagnan here to sick bay".
