Her manager reported that Glynis Johns had died peacefully in Los Angeles today, at the grand age of 100.

Her biggest role was as Mrs Banks, the suffragette mother of the children who Mary Poppins was nanny to in the 1964 film.
Although she was born in South Africa she was a British citizen.

She appeared in over 60 films and 30 stage productions.
I did read that Stephen Sondheim wrote "Send in the Clowns" specifically for her, which is quite the claim. Mary Poppins an under-rated classic IMO. Her father Mervyn is best recalled as Bob Cratchitt opposte Alistair Sim as Scrooge.

RIP, a fine age Sad
She was perfect opposite David Tomlinson

100 is a magnificent age

RIP and condlences to all
