Player of the match: Dawid Malan.
A truly outstanding innings from Dawid Malan on a very tricky pitch steered England to victory. While chaos was happening at the other end Malan produced a beautifully controlled knock. Take a bow Sir.
Take a bow.
2nd ODI - Mirpur

Bangladesh v England

England: 326/7 (50 overs)
Roy 132, Buttler 76, Moeen 42.
Taskin 3/66.

Player of the match: Jason Roy.

England won by 132 runs and lead series 2-0.
Jason Roy is feast or famine... it's either a big score or a first ball.
I think the value of the batter taking a bit of time to get used to the wicket is particularly acute in those conditions to be honest. Roy had to scratch around a bit first up but once he got himself in batting became easier.
Same with Buttler to a degree.
Those two learnt lessons from the Malan knock the other day.
3rd ODI - Chittagong

Bangladesh v England

Bangladesh won toss and bat

Bangladesh: 246 all out (48.5 overs)
Shakib 75, Mushfiqur 70, Shanto 53
Archer 3/35, Rashid 2/21, S. Curran 2/51.

England: 196 all out (43.1 overs)
Shakib 4/35, Hossain 2/38.

Bangladesh won by 50 runs.

Player of the match: Shakib Al Hasan.

England win series 2-1.
The value of this tour to Bangladesh is significant imo. Gives various players, some fringe and some not valuable time in the middle in tricky conditions the like of which they may well come across in India for the 50 over World Cup later this year.
Some valuable learning to take away from both the ODIs and the upcoming T20s.
The big mistake going forward is that England have no more ODI's until September leading into the October-November World Cup. The fact that most of the expected squad & fringe players will not feature in any domestic 50 over cricket is another negative. Part of England's successful T20 World Cup campaign was the large number of T20I played during the lead-up. England's management will no doubt believe that the upcoming IPL will be suitable preparation. Yes, the venues & pitch conditions will offer invaluable knowledge, but a 50 over & T20 are maybe further apart than a Test Match innings & an ODI innings.
