I remember thinking about 3 years ago how VR was going to be so big in porn, but it hasn't really happened. I was expecting it to take off and be the future of adult entertainment, as the advantages seem obvious, but now I'm wondering why the growth of VR porn is so very slow. It seems strange to me that the concept hasn't been fully embraced.
It's not just porn though. VR in general hasn't taken off in the way that many people expected. Some VR headsets are even discontinued now and mobile VR has collapsed. Traditional 2D formats are just easier to use and more accessible and that makes it hard for VR to catch on.

Yes watching in VR is far superior and a much better experience. It's like watching in colour instead of black and white. However, although the advantages are great, the disadvantages are also considerable. Having to charge the headset, having to transfer material to the headset, having to wear the headset, having to buy one in the first place and at the end of the day most material isn't available in VR anyway. Incidentally, the last time I used my own headset it overheated and automatically switched off.
I think there's a classic catch 22 here. Say you like a particular girl, you'll find that very little of her content is made in VR, so it's not really worth getting into. But then because not many people are getting into VR porn, there's not much incentive for content producers to shoot their content on VR. As I said, catch 22.

A good 5 years ago at least people were talking about VR being a revolution in the adult industry, but not much has changed since then. The potential just hasn't been realised, despite many people insisting that VR is the future. I reckon part of the problem is that the producers of VR porn are obsessed with POV and probably 90% of VR porn comes into that category. Once producers realise that VR isn't just about a POV experience I think the potential of VR will be much better utilised. Having said that, it's cute when someone whispers in your ear, so I'm not saying POV doesn't have its advantages.
I understand what you say, but to me the main advantage of VR is the POV scenario. Because POV makes an immersive experience even more immersive.
I suppose a lot depends on whether you regard VR as a better way of viewing porn or whether you're looking for a virtual sex experience.
If I download a VR video, can I watch it without a headset but still with the VR effect?
If you watch it without a VR device you won't get the immersive experience (which is the whole point of VR).

I think it's worth pointing out that if you choose to view online it makes VR a whole lot simpler. You cut out the downloading of big files and you cut out the transferring of big files. If you keep your headset nicely charged you're basically good to go all the time.
