It is understood that Sky Sports, Channel 4 and the Disney-owned ESPN have already alerted the Premier League about their interest in buying the two packages available for next season. ESPN, who have been circling the PL for some time, are the most likely successful bidders, although Channel 4 would bring live action from the Premier League to terrestrial TV for the first time.

I couldn't agree with you more Wazo & this is the view & subject if dicussion I hear amongst my male freiends at work or done the pub/gym. Prem footy ( & other sports ) on Terrestial Telly would be awesome. I am a big supporter of Channel 4 so big up to them. CH4 needs stuff like this as well to survive inthe future ( it as a unique position in Public Sector Broadcasting- despite being in the commericial sector it is actually 'publicly owned/governed' but run by commercial companies- there is talk of it merging with BBC worldwide). The digi cutover & the license fee review brings fresh & difficult challenges. CH4 has the cricket for a while- it ca do it.

I think in this economic climate people are more & more cost consous & more aware of being how much they have to pay for stuff & being ripped off. Football fans deserve to have Prem football on terrestail TV because for far too long they have made through the nose for watching a game. wherever they choose to watch it ( except the pub of cousrse- but then your pub is paying out a lot for Sky or Setanta ( boo hiss) & then you end up drimking lots of beer (well i do anyways ;-) )

it'd b gr8 4 the game, but depends on the coverage, wot sorta pundits and commentary team, dont think i cud bare to listen 2 craig burley n co
Would be awesome if Channel 4 gets one or two of the packages but I don't think they will get it as Sky Sports and ESPN has more money.
Sky can only get one of the packages IIRC but i agree someone like ESPN are more likely to get the other one
I think Sky can only get one of the 23-game packages so as a Sky viewer i would like them to get one and C4 to get the other just to see some live Prem footy on terrestrial telly

craig burley's a fuckin scummy bastard, jus cos he was dropped from the chelsea fa cup final team, he decided to go watch the game in a local wembley pub wit the middlesborough fan. Who says loyalty in football doesnt exist anymore, it hasnt existed in a while!
Anything that shifts the 'Property House programmes' of the Channel Four schedule is alright with me.

Just do me a favor though, 'DO NOT HIRE GARTH CROOKS'!
