I'm not sure, but there was no mention of a hybrid pitch last night at the Oval, it is one on the largest squares in the country, so they should be able to cope with preparing enough conventional wickets, The problem is with so many televised games, they only seem to ues 2 or 3 strips in the centre.
Should be an interesting watch tonight, when London Spirit host Northern Superchargers. Eoin Morgan with have to face Adil Rashid. My money is on Adil coming out on top.
^^ Massive win for the Superchargers, 63 runs, captain Willey was Hero of the match with the highest individual score in the comp to date, 81 from 45 & also bowling the first 10 balls & take 2 wickets, to put the London spirit on the back foot. 92-9 doesn't look good for a hundred ball innings, Morgan top scored with 27 from 22, as I predicted, Rashid got his man.
The table looks interesting. Apart from London Spirit, the teams are all pretty even right now, with very little between top and bottom.
Great bit of commentary last night, when Oval Invinciibles hosted Trent Rockets. Reece Topley hit Alex Hales in the box, shouted no, & he fell to his knees, then punched the ground repeatedly. He took some time before he faced the next ball. Ebony Rainford-Brent, made some comment about a back of a length delivery, immediately wished she hadn't used the word length. as she discussed with Darren Sammy what would be the likely ball to deliver next. By some miracle Hales managed to get an inside edge straight into his box ! He took less time to recover this time, but he must have been fearful a lightning striking for the 3rd time, as he played a horrendous shot to Topley's last ball, & almost offered up a simple catch.
Great to see Darren Dazzler Gough joining the Sky commentary team, just as enthusiastic as he was when he played, & knowledgeable about bowling.

Was a highly entertaining game kp and Darren Sammy comms were priceless
As for Alex hales getting two balls in a row in his nuts was like the odds winning the lottery I had a bit of fun tweeting about it whilst Alex tweeted earlier today about it all in good spirits t
I'm still to be won over by this format.

I can't understand what a Love Island contestant has to do with cricket. Better to send someone into the crowds who knows about cricket.

And to me it's demostrated the big gulf between womens and mens cricket. Not the batting, not the bowling, but the fielding. In the match I watched I've never seen so many easy dropped catches.

Bits In bold Reminds me of a Mike Reid joke...Tongue
Last night Northern Superchargers posted a competition best 200-5 & then bowled Manchester Originals out for 131 & a massive 69 runs victory. Hero of the Match was John Simpson with 71 not out off 28 balls, backed up by some classy keeping. He took his Middlesex teammate Steven Finn for 29 runs from his last set of 5, as he went for 51 from 15 balls. Before the match the Superchargers were without opener Lyth & star batsman Brook, who both returned positive covid tests.
