A sad day for the sport of snooker that I love so much.
Doug Mountjoy has passed away at the age of 78.

The amiable Welshman was a 2 time winner of the UK Championship most notably in 1988 when sealing a brilliant 16-12 victory over the future 7 time World Champion Stephen Hendry 16-12 in the final.
He claimed a famous 7-6 victory in The Masters of 1977 beating 6 time World Champion Ray Reardon in the final.
Also a former World Championship runner up to Steve Davis at The Crucible in 1981 as well as a former World Amateur champion.

Five times a Welsh Professional champion and former winner of Pot Black but most importantly a thoroughly kind and honourable bloke.

Sincerest condolences to his family on this very sad day for snooker Sad.

R.I.P.
Very sad news
Probably one of the best players never to win the World Championship and The sport is poorer.

Condolences to all his family and friends.

RIP
A sad irony that Glamorgan born Doug dies on the eve of the Welsh open.

RIP Doug
