The Master Posts This...

OK, serious thread from me for once. I've been toying around for ages with setting up a website to publish short stories and registered a domain name ready, but my current financial situation is such that I really can't justify the expense. So does anyone know of any free or really, really cheap webhosts that I could try, or alternatively should I consider publishing on a blog through Facebook or MySpace?
I'm not sure if this will be any use to you or not. If your looking to start a blog and post it on there then this will be helpful.

http://wordpress.com/ you can create free blogs Smile
Well that all depends on how complicated you want to make it Wink

Plenty of free hosts out there but they limit things like bandwidth, file size/type, uptime, ad banners, availability of support, etc

I'd expect as a fledgling site with low traffic most free hosts will meet your requirements so I'd suggest you perhaps email those you short-list to test out their response when it comes to support as I can bet you'll need it at some stage
Wordpress is probably going to be fine and as others have said the level of support you may or may not need is really going to affect the pricing. I know of a place that will give you 1GB space on a 100/100 connected 99.999% uptime machine for a one off lifetime €50 payment, but it is linux-shell only access (mtveurope.org).

A similarly cheap host that also gives shell access but perhaps more in the way of admin tools is NearlyFreeSpeech who charge by the bandwidth used and storage used, their accounts incur no monthly fee. Both of those providers will handle DNS for you to get your pages on your domain that you've got.

If you do just go for wordpress or some other such service you can get a DNS redirector that will make yourdomain.com jump to foo.wordpress.com/you/whatever. I'd recommend this guy, it is completely free.
So Sayeth The Master...

Thanks for the links and advice peeps. I think probably will end up going with Wordpress, but I'll have a good look around free-webhosts.com first.
The guy who runs this http://www.devhub.com/ wanted to build a website for me because he was a fan of my channels on Youtube. I declined because I haven't got a clue about technology but he's a really sound bloke(for a yank).
You should take a look @
