This year marked my 20th Anniversary of being on the Internet, the 31st May, 1999 to be precise and the first thing I did was to go to the BBC's website which at that time was one of the leading websites around. However, with the dial-up system back then sometimes you would take nearly 10 attempts to get online(praying that the damn thing would connect with that godawful screech it used to make) especially with a paltry 56k speed(in this area at least) I used Freeserve because that was the cheapest way to get on line and I had to wait at least a week for the line to go live. It used to cost 1 1/2p a minute weekdays and 1p at weekends and I sat with a countdown timer making sure I didn't go over my alloted time-otherwise my father would not have been pleased to get a huge phone bill.

When did you first go online and what did you look at or search for, bearing in mind the top search engines were Altavista, Lycos and Dogpile to name but three.
Smile Did you have any problems? What was your speed?
Would have been 1998 or 1999 with AOL dial up connection...God what a joke that was compared to today, so damn slow, waiting for web pages to load, if you wanted to download anything, you could go out for a 10 mile hike, then when you got back it would still be downloading!!! OK Im exaggerating a bit here but you get the overall idea of how the internet was back then.
What did you search for?(Be as honest as you can)Smile

I was doing a Computer Programming home study course at the time, so would spend pretty much all of my time trying to gather as much online research information as I could...after having to wait what seemed like an eternity getting online waiting for the telltale screeching and ‘bing bing’ sound to finish...
I looked for naked pics of a model called Natalie Banus(Jay) and I found this chap who had a really good free website, e-mailed him on the off chance and he had three pictorial indexes which he sent me and I could choose which pics I liked. He sent me some others and over a period of time we became friends and I ended up helping him with his website AND he joined my fledgling Yahoo page 3 group.
I first used the internet briefly in 1998 at school in my I.T lessons but I had no interest in it,I used it properly on my mate's laptop in 2006 to look up my all time favourite pornstar,Rita Faltoyano.Smile
I had aol dial-up to as I'm pretty sure that was unlimited so you didn't have to pay any extra. Pretty sure it would have been BBC website at first to for the sport news but one of the first porn searches was a site called thumb... something that had lots of thumbnail pictures so was quicker to load up. God bless broadband when it came in
I first used it in 1998 (like many in this thread it seems Wink ). I was 7 at the time. I searched for pictures of sharks and Carmen Electra's tits
I wasn't 7 in 1998 mate Wink
I can understand Carmen Electra although Pamela Anderson was the hottest girl around along when she was hot and cute and pneumatic. Smile
Circa '98. On an Amstrad all in one PC thing Intel 75mhz. Looked up porn after about 20 seconds. 21 years on haven't stopped...

One of my favourites babes to look up at that time was a very young and super-hot Charmaine Sinlcair! Tongue
